A tengu is a creature from Japanese folklore, often depicted as a humanoid being with bird-like features, such as wings and a long, beak-like nose (later evolving into a distinctly human, long-nosed face). Tengu are associated with the mountains and forests, acting as both protective spirits and mischievous tricksters. Originally considered malevolent, they later came to be seen as guardians of sacred spaces, skilled warriors, and martial arts masters.
