Hi followers, friends, and misc. people - Below the cut is personal life events that involve the loss of life
My wife was killed in a car accident just a couple months ago. She was a wonderful person, someone who blessed anyone who touched her life. Shortly after her death I started to hear from her friends about how she was a guiding light for them, someone that they found to be inspiring, comforting, a warm light in the darkest parts of their lives.
Since this is a Gundam blog I'm going to share something relevant to both my wife and Gundam.
I was (and am) a huge fan of Gundam. She - on the other hand - was not. Outside of Evangelion, she found mecha anime to be generally uninteresting. I asked her to watch MSG with me and she was hesitant. Eventually I asked her "Will you watch Gundam Thunderbolt with me? If you don't like it then I'll never ask you to watch Gundam with me again." She begrudgingly agreed.
Can you guess what happened, dear friends and followers?
She watched Thunderbolt with me and immediately fell in love. We immediately started to burn through every piece Universal Century anime that we had access to. We watched MSG, 8th MS Team, War in the Pocket, Zeta, ZZ Gundam, Counter Attack, F91, etc. We got to episode 13 of Victory Gundam.
When Witch From Mercury came out, we were so excited. We watched every episode every Sunday. She's what drove me to start this blog (though of course at a certain point I fell off with this). We got the Hots and Cool keychains. She took Hots and I took Cool. My Cool now sits in a memorial box of her stuff while Hots was on her bag, in her car, when she died - and is still being held by the police while they continue their investigation. I had been keeping Cool on my DSLR.
She was - is - such a wonderful and caring woman. Everyone we have ever known has come out of the woodwork to talk about how special she was to them, how she helped them through dark times, how caring and compassionate she was.
She is someone who deserves to be remembered. She loved anime, she cared so much for nature (and especially pollinators), she cared deeply for her friends and those who were close to her, she was a wonderful creative. She had such incredible stories and made incredible hand drawn art for the ttrpgs that I published. She worked hard to improve her life and benefit the lives of those around her that she cared about.
If you have the resources, please donate to a local charity that benefits nature and pollinators. If you have the mental space, please keep her and her family in your thoughts.
She was - and still is - the most important person in my life.
