Another day, we sit and wait for you to be home from work, to beg to go to the park.
You take us and play and we run around until hours passed, and its dark.
I took it for granted, I wish I understood how to really relish that time.
I'm doing it again, letting the seconds go hoping if I ignore it, it'll be fine.
But I know the truth, the time is running out, I'm just trying to look away.
By looking away I'm missing these moments that we should be sharing today.
What did you have for breakfast?
Do you have any plans later?
Do you want to spend time with me?
I can tell you feel tired, but can't we stay up just a bit more?
I have so many things to talk about, there's just so much more life in store.
I have so much that I want to show you, I'll slow down so you can keep pace.
It's really not fair if you ask me, you're so close to the end of the race.
But I'm not close to done, does that mean that I'm running alone?
What about all the other things for me that you haven't yet shown?
I know how to mow the lawn
I can fold clothes and do laundry too
I can cook food just like you
I can drive my car pretty well
I can do my own taxes these days
And look, I'm paying my bills
I'm taking care of my cat
I'm trying to care for me too
Hey dad.....look I'm riding a bike all by myself....
It's okay, you don't have to hold me anymore....
But....can we stay at the park just a bit longer?
