-- Just a dream --
Samantha woke up shortly after Mavis left the shed, when Ffarquhar Quarry Co.’s whistle sounded. After seeing that her friend was gone, she started her big V12 engine and snuggled down to the rails, letting herself warm up. There was a big order of stone scheduled to go out today, and she needed to be in top form for that. A big pull - just what she liked first thing in the morning!
As her engine pleasantly warmed up, she remembered that she’d had the most wonderful dream last night. A dream about the very engine she shared a shed with.
She did have quite a strong crush on Mavis, but she hadn’t dared act on it. The little black shunter wasn’t even into her, after all, and she didn’t want to make her friendship awkward. Plus, they had only known each other for a few weeks!
But that didn’t stop her from having dreams. She laughed at herself as she recalled - after all, Mavis already had Den, and they were happy. And Sam had some hard work to do, and that made her happy.
Everybody was happy, and that’s what mattered. She released her brakes and headed into the sunny morning, eager to shove those flippant little trucks around.
