"crochet can't be made by machines" went from being a cool fun fact to being a call to action of "so if you see mass manufactured crochet in Target, that was made by a person and they were underpaid and you should boycott it" which is true, it was made by a person, but EVERY item of clothing you own (that you did not purchase from a company using ethical labor) was made by a person being underpaid (at *best*.)
Sewing machines are operated by *people*. Knitting machines are operated by *people*. Yes lots of the process is automated but you cannot tell a machine "make me a t-shirt" or "make me a knit cardigan".
Higher awareness of fast fashion, and the true human labor and abuse behind it, is GREAT, but let's not pretend that the crochet hat in target is THE problem. Every article of clothing in target is the problem. "All clothes are made by people" is the jumping off point here into understanding this issue it's not just crochet it's the whole thing ahhhhHHHHHHHHHH
If you've ever seen images of sweatshops in the early 20th century, in New York or the UK or other developed countries
Guess what
Your clothing is still made in a place that looks like that. The only thing that's different is the tech level of the sewing machines and the race of the workers
This also applies to all plushies. Every single plushie is made by people, there is no way to make them without human labour.
Unless you buy them from small scale makers who make them themselves, this means they were made in a factory, the same way clothing is.
I'm trying to make a banner ad for Tales from the Embassy, but I think I got carried away with the level of detail in the drawing. It won't show up properly at the usual ad size, so I'm posting it separately here because I really love it.
here's where to find it on windows 10
Ugh, it was in mine. It's off now.
IT GETS WORSE
I had to turn this off, but it's something that allows Windows and anyone using your device to generate text/images.
LOBOTOMIZE YOUR MACHINES
AI is a freacking plague, I share this for any windows user.
They’re training AI on my fanfic? Fools! My awful grammar and appallingly sentence construction will DESTROY YOU ALL!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
A Smouldering Smoke
I've finally completed my Widdershins fanfic featuring everyone's least favourite characters. What can defeat the ancient malice of the terrible standing stone. It also completes the Maelstrom story arc. Perhaps I should stick to the characters people actually want to read about. https://archiveofourown.org/works/58245982

Happy Webcomic Day!
Allow me to introduce my upcoming comic, Tales from the Embassy! I hope to have Vol. 1, The Clerk's Tale, ready to launch by this fall.
(logo designed by the fabulous @feathernotes)
Here's the overall blurb for the comic: In the soaring halls of the Embassy, where representatives of magical cultures meet and negotiate, everyone has their own stories to tell. Step behind the scenes for a look into the lives of the staff who keep the Embassy running day to day.
And here's the blurb for The Clerk's Tale: When a letter from the birth mother she never knew offers Elsiné a job working as a clerk at the Embassy, she’s not prepared for how fantastical the paperwork can get. With the support of her new friends Galen and Feneree, she's determined to prove to herself — and her mother — that she can handle any job the Embassy throws her way.
These are Elsiné, Galen, and Feneree, our first batch of main characters. They also introduced themselves in this post.
I've always liked stories about people who live in some kind of magical or otherwise extraordinary setting, but do small mundane jobs within it. In Tales from the Embassy, I want to give some of those people the spotlight to show how their jobs work (what kind of form do you need to fill out to certify someone as a Dragonkin scale artist? how do you adapt Seafolk food to appeal to land-dwellers?) and what else is going on in their lives.
Stay tuned for more news about the comic, and I hope you'll enjoy it when it arrives!
have you noticed that they don't even want you right clicking anymore
Yeah! you can do it to a youtube video and take a snapshot of that frame if it's paused, or open the thumbnail in a new tab if it hasn't started playing yet

There are sites that block shift-right-click. Fortunately, there are fixes for that.

saw a post saying that New Yorkers force their kids to learn to play the recorder in school because they’re secretly looking for one that will be able to solve their rat problem. I can’t stop thinking about it
Given a choice between a rat infestation and a small child with a recorder, I’ll go for the rodents every time.

This line of Elaine's on yesterday's page is giving me even more feels about the earlier scene where Henry and Izzy are guarding the door against the angry mob.
They've never gotten along with their daughter-in-law (especially Henry) but you just know they immediately stepped up to defend her and Fredrick, because that's how they are.
My lungs are on fire.
Every time I think I’m done, I start emptying another room in this god-forsaken house, and I find more paperwork and books sweating inside plastic wrapping, covered in mold.
And then I realize none of the extractor fans in the bathrooms are working. Some have actively been covered in cling film. Why? ‘They let outside air in when it blows too strong’ so there’s just... No ventilation. 🫠
Hello??? Help????
Is this why they’re all insane? Did the mold get them??¿?
