The solarium scene in Sabrina (1995) makes me so crazy. There are hurtful and invasive things being said and done every moment yet Sabrina and Linus have so much respect for one another (especially him for her) that they glide through it so effortlessly. He’s there to bribe her to stay away from his brother but she gives him such a good lead-in with the line about the lawyer and the waitress that they’re able to hide behind those roles for a moment and get the negotiation out of the way (dismissed, actually) without actually hurting each other’s feelings. Then he keeps sweet talking her and dancing with her which he didn’t have to do and he kisses her which he really did not have to do but she has the confidence and self-respect to slap him and he has the respect for her to thank her for bringing him back to his senses and apologize for it. Somehow they get through that entire thing, which would be an absolute acquaintance destroyer for the average two people, and go on to further a friendship - slash - relationship starting the very next day. It’s masterfully done.
