spent my friday reading & making flashcards, sm fun
Another day, another fun annotating session! 📝🎐
When I really want to understand a paper, I try to “dumb-down” EVERYTHING (!!!) I can, no matter how hard or easy it seemed on the first read.
Also, I organize paragraphs in my own way so that when I come back later, I can quickly scan my bullet points and use them to navigate the paper 💭
🐳 Another BIG reason I post my notes is because I want to normalize sloooooowing down. Not everyone understands or memorizes something after reading it once, and that’s okay!!!! Take as much time as you need with a text. Give yourself permission to slow down, reread, and write as many “dumb” annotations as you want, even the “everyone probably knows what this word means, so why don’t I?” kind 💓 No one’s there to judge you! It took me way too long to let myself stop working the way other people work and start finding a way that actually works for me. I hope you do too!
short hair is cool bcs it’s low maintenance & stays OUT of ur face. I love short hair. 🏄🏽♀️😛💤🎐💓

Girls ! Do I deserve an iced latte for being so studious & awesome? 💓💭🎐☕️
hint: the answer is yes.

literally just got back on tumblr a day ago after a year long hiatus and I already can’t stop blogging..
if anyone reading this struggles with high screen time and their phone -> if u can afford it, I definitely recommend getting that Brick app blocker device.
💘 speaking from personal experience: my screen time went from 8+ hrs to 2-3 hrs everyday.
i brick my phone an hour before going to bed 💤 and then again in the afternoon or whenever I feel like I’m procrastinating or using my phone too much. it has seriously helped me sm!!! :))
🗂️: ALSO! right after I brick my phone, I use the structure app to plan my tasks. it clears my brain and I start working right away!

Took me until about halfway through college before I realized “study” means “play with the material in a variety of ways until you understand it” and not just “read the assigned chapters and do the homework” and I think that probably should have been discussed at some point prior to that.
i hear you, but how do you “play with the material”?
i wish we were taught how to do that. does this mean doing independent research on every topic you’re taught?
even so, i believe that would be a waste of study time because, at the end of the day, you’re only tested based on what the book or the lecturer says, no? at least that’s how i’m tested at my school. that’s how our education system works, unfortunately.
nonetheless, the main reward for independent research is the knowledge you gain yourself, which is absolutely worth it too.
almost 12:00 PM 🎐 just finished my American English accent practise!
-> going to take a break and then do the readings for my two sociology courses i’m taking this summer📑
A confused woman is a dependant woman.
the fact that i'm no longer the same age as the protagonists of novels and films i once connected to is so heartbreaking. there was a time when I looked forward to turning their age. i did. and i also outgrew them. i continue to age, but they don't; never will. the immortality of fiction is beautiful, but cruel.
recently, i’ve been having trouble sleeping through the night due to constant weird nightmares, waking up multiple times. however, for the past 2-3 days, it had gotten better—even if i had a nightmare, i wasn’t waking up in the middle of the night until yesterday when my sleep got interrupted again due to a nightmare.
even if i manage to get 8 hours of sleep, the next day is always stressful. i feel lost and not in control of myself or my thoughts, which makes it difficult to stick to my morning routine.
although today started rough, i decided to just simply let my body do what it wanted. i took a break from my usual routine and went straight to my yoga practice to relieve stress. it was a bit difficult but definitely calming. while i was already on my yoga mat, i completed an ab workout routine.
after moving my body a bit, i felt much better. after doing some physical activity, my mind went into a productive mode, and i ran on the treadmill for about 15 minutes. i showered, had breakfast, and feel much, much better now.
i won’t lie—the fear of nighttime hasn’t entirely escaped my mind. however, i did some research and found that nidra yoga is very effective for a good night’s sleep. i will also avoid using my phone 30 minutes before bedtime and try to read a book instead.
i will do an update on my sleep tomorrow. anyway, here’s my to-do list for studying today:
[ ] statistics (lecture three)
[ ] sociology reading (chapter one)
[ ] discrete mathematics: finish sets reading (optional)

I'm the kind of reader who scribbles on the pages of a book to express my great love for the work or eternal hatred.
🛀 posting after a while. i'm still getting used to studying after such a long break. i've been very productive in other areas of my life, but studying remains a bit challenging. however, i will work on it, even if it means studying for just ten minutes a day.
it's easy to lie on the internet about studying just to feel a sense of accomplishment and to appear accountable. however, for my own betterment, i want to be honest and start this journey of becoming productive and restarting my studies. it will be slow, but i have a strong will to fulfill my goals. even on the days i don't study, i will try to understand the reasons and work on them.
anyway, today was another great and productive day after a while. i'm learning more about yoga and still striving to be more consistent with it. 🧘🏻♀️
📑 this time, i’ve attached my mathematics notes from today where i spent time working on the in-chapter exercises and then checked my answers. practicing is fun.
