Things to keep in mind when learning a foreign language.
Always read out loud! Focus on pronounciation and accuracy. You may sound better in your head than in real life, and without practice you won’t improve.
Study vocab with flashcards. Take your time to make them.
Apply new grammar rules in practice problems. Without application and practice, there won’t be much use to it.
Practice, practice, practice!

I thought I’d have to wait for snail mail, but then my friend told me to check online and!! YAY I’ve never been to UW but I’ve heard the campus is beautiful and the school is really nice :)

Forest: the Concentration App!
I just downloaded this from the App Store, after hearing reviews about how well it works. Basically the idea is: a tree grows every 30 minutes while you study. If you open anything other than apps you whitelist, then the tree shrivels up and dies. Over time the trees you plant form a lush forest and different kinds of trees grow (idk how that works…yet). Your weekly progress is also recorded so you can check up on how you’re doing and how many hours you’ve spent studying, as well as the tree cultivating success rate.
Can’t wait to try this thing! If you want to get it, typing in “forest app” would probably do the trick.
