I would like to emphasize that I agree with all of these tags by the way. My post wasn't aiming to pin all of Europe's grotesque racism on the new elections.
A few weeks ago I was at a board game night with some of my old classmates from various mainland European countries. They started talking about how horrible Trump's treatment of immigrants is and how they're so glad to be in Europe where nothing like that is happening right now. I asked them what they thought about the fact that their own governments were complicit in turning the Mediterranean into a mass grave of asylum seekers, and some of them legitimately didn't even know and were surprised to hear that their own governments had enacted policies that caused the deaths of thousands of asylum seekers.
Even here in Iceland, almost nobody has been talking about the fact that some of the far right populist parties have legitimately been talking about wanting to establish detainment camps to keep asylum seekers in.
This post is a few months old now, and the bit about Iceland is now outdated, because AlĆ¾ingi (the Icelandic parliament) passed the bill approving the detention center for asylum seekers. It will be legal to handcuff and detain children there.
Never let anyone from Europe feed you the lie that racism and fascism are unique to North America in the 21st century.
reminder to all disabled people that youāre allowed to tell people āi canāt do thatā about stuff you can ātechnicallyā do but which harms you or requires a period of recovery or preparatory rest etc. you donāt have to explain the complex nuances of your condition to anybody who demands it. iāve found itās honestly better to give the least amount of info about your symptoms unless you trust a person a lot. you hold the power over your health information. you choose whether or not to share the details of your condition with people who might not understand.

For those of you wondering, yes I still want to be able to help my mom even despite the things sheās done to me emotionally and financially. Sheās made mistakes often out of stress and fear, that doesnāt excuse it, but I understand she doesnāt really mean to act the way she does.
She always tries to be kind and supportive of me, I donāt really have that much support from anyone else in my family.
Above all else I just canāt ignore when sheās struggling. I still love and care for her. Some things I know I have to let her handle on her own, but she works so incredibly hard and if I can make things easier for her, Iād like to.
As for me..I just want to get to a point where I can create full time and have stability. I want to work on projects and get the opportunities to be a part of something really cool. Learn new things and see new places too.
For now this is just to support us for the month, but long-term I want to post more and engage more with the community.

So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said ādonāt follow me if we never even had a conversation beforeā and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????
Iāve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now Iām wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that itās totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if weāve never talked before.
Also, Iām legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like itās common sense but is that really a thing?
Saw a sharp increase in my follower count after posting this. The legitimacy of it is driving me nuts so I also feel the need to say that you can follow anyone on here regardless of whether youāve interacted with them or not. People like the above mentioned blog are exceptions. Perhaps they themselves think they arenāt and therefore will act like they arenāt, but they are, trust me.
Just follow anyone you wanna follow. The worst thing that can happen is maybe getting soft-blocked by the other person, but if they do soft-block you, then they were never that worth following in the first place.
