Hi tumblr! I have a very specific question for you. How do you write OCs with a different sexuality from your own?
I have an aroace character (it’s not stated, but implied). I chose this because I wanted to tell a story about a character having a happy life without romance. But I’m not personally on the a‑spec.
I know I could do it without mentioning sexuality at all, like “he’s a het cis guy but he chose to live alone” or something. But I think people would still headcanon this type of character as aroace, so I went with that from the start.

Reposting a sketch comic from 2022.
Back then I made a post where I talked about the origin of the main character of #StrikeAChord. It's cringey, but this is a story. Special post for those, who likes Max/Zeta (Zex or Meta — still can't decide).
Here’s what that post said:
The main character of my story is Max, a grey cat guitarist. By the time of the main events he’s already an adult, but here we’ll talk about his younger self, the way he’s drawn in this piece.
He spent his whole childhood living and studying in a small town called Rabbit-Hole. When he grew up, he decided to devote his life to music and applied to a music college in Birdsong.
Birdsong is not only the nearest big city, it’s also a “city of musicians”: famous performers grew up there, popular bands were founded there, and it’s well known for its conservatories, music schools, and so on.
Max’s move marked the start of his musical career, even though he never actually got in.
One more fact: big‑city life had a huge impact on Max. It slowly killed his natural ambition, leaving him gloomy and depressed.
I decided to dig deeper into his past, and that’s how these four mini‑comics (strips) about the cohabitation of Max the cat and Zeta the deer were born.

p.s. Ah, the era when my ocs didn’t wear pants (let's not be weird about it, please). A-AND! I use my own handwriting in the original, but if it’s not clear, please just tell me, ok?
Comic #1: Diversion Tactic
Some people just don’t live quiet lives. Max has long lost count of how many girls have crossed the threshold of this apartment. While he’s trying to distract himself from it all, he ends up in an awkward conversation with the new fling’s friend.
Comic #2: “You Shouldn’t Have Kicked Her Out…”
This one is actually the first comic in the series. It’s about Zeta’s girlfriend, whose very existence gets on Max’s nerves. I still put it second, though, because in this order the story flows better.
Comic #3: Rent Payment
Max moved in with Zeta for one simple reason: he didn’t have a choice. In other words, he couldn’t afford a place of his own. And since Zeta knows his friend’s financial situation, he often lets Max’s share of the rent slide. Well… “lets it slide.”
Comic #4: Perks of Living Together
Even if living together doesn’t feel exactly sweet, it still has its perks. For example, the fact that you’re both musicians.

Ahh, remember that? Probably not. Anyway, I tweaked Chase’s design a bit based on the prologue: one version for his younger self and one for when he’s older.
