no thoughts head empty

Starting off with supports in game that have been translated and in game stuff. For starters, they share the highest base support points with each other (Klein also has a 40 base point start with Clarine but they’re siblings who grew up together so it makes sense). What is strange is how Dieck has a higher base with Klein than the rest of his supports even if he is in a mercenary company. Surely he would have a higher support base with them than some guy he was with for two years right? Sure their supports build slowly, mostly because it’s Dieck trying to keep Klein from talking with him which makes sense in context and their class difference. 

The interesting thing is what Klein does throughout the supports. In all of them, it’s Klein reaching out and trying to talk to Dieck. Now what is interesting is in their B support which he literally goes ‘when this war ends, do you want to return home with me?’ which regardless of context reads like a confession. After all, you don’t tell just anyone to go home with you after a war. Sure they knew each other when Klein is a child and so forth but why does Klein think it’s so important to get Dieck to come back to the estate with him? It reads like some young man trying to get the person they’re dating to come home to see their parents. 

Then there’s their whole A support which is very very interesting when paralleled with Klein’s support with Elphin. With Elphin, it is another support where the two characters share old memories though in this one Klein does not recall the whole exchange. He’s a toddler so around 1-3 years old when it happens. What is interesting is how in his support with Dieck, Klein is the one who tells the story and he is around 4 years old when it happens and he still remembers this whole event (sure it’s traumatic but it’s less about what he feels and more about Dieck and their whole relationship). You can 100% interpret it as Klein trying to reach out so the two can be equals and he is practically overjoyed when Dieck finally agrees to go home with him after the war. 

Now in Fire Emblem Heroes is when it gets really interesting in my opinion. And it’s all through Klein’s 5* level 40 convo with the summoner. 

“Thanks to my noble birth, I've had the fortune to meet many different people during my life. I feel it's made me a good judge of character. For example, those who talk the talk rarely walk the walk. And they often run away. Then there are those who hardly say a word and never boast, yet are quick to help others. Such a person saved me when I was a child. That's how I know that I can trust you fully. And I devote my skills to your cause and will continue to do so. It's an honor to serve you.“ - Klein 

The person he is referring to is Dieck, not Elphin whom he grows up with and not Clarine. This is all about how the mercenary is his personal measuring stick in life. It’s hero worship from the looks of it but from what we can learn from it but you could also interpret it w/ what we know from his B support into maybe a crush of sorts. Like he just talks about Dieck in this way when the guy isn’t here. None of his other relationships except his relationship with Clarine is noted in canon so far, Dieck is literally in his top 5 relationships which is funny cuz his ‘canonical’ ship is with Thea whom he doesn’t even mention? I just find it so strange since it’s his only romantic pairing in game if you don’t read between the lines (cuz oh boy does Klein say a lot of things which make you go: and you just say that with a straight face? Who says stuff like that?)
