On my knees begging people to understand the difference between depicting something and romanticizing it. Also, why certain actions taken by villains is not as problematic as those same actions taken by heroes. 'Cause, you know, the story isn't typically endorsing the villain.
And while we're at it, too many people also need a crash course in narrative framing in general.
And moreover, recognize that even if said villain switches to being a good guy, that does not retroactively mean their former villainous actions are now endorsed by the narrative either. That's not how arcs work.
Not every character in every context is meant to be aspirational, and "analyzing" every character in the same framework as though they are, ignoring all context or framing, is incredibly bad faith.
