The biggest eye roll known to John Constantine was flashed in his direction and a large grin pulled at her lips, remaining in place until her manager was long gone. She knew the bare minimum about Zatanna and she wished to keep it that way. John, on the other hand, knew too much. “You could have had me fooled. How long has it been?” She turned to walk towards her dressing room and the door closed behind them.

“The review made you realize you missed me? Jesus, John…” She sighed and plopped herself on her couch, crossing one leg over the other as her gaze and realization settled on her old friend. It had been too long and while she missed their banter, she also wanted to wring his neck for not staying in contact. “…I should start off by saying I mi—“She cut herself off when he mentioned her manager and sighed. “..and then there’s that.”

Of all the hearts that he had broken, John regretted breaking hers the most. He leaned his back against the closed door and pulled out a pack of cigarettes from his trench pocket. He chuckled when he saw the annoyed look on her face. Had he asked about the manager just to tease Zee? Yes, he most definitely had, and John wasn’t ashamed to admit it. “Don’t worry, I don’t think your lovely manager fancies me. Well, yet.” He said in an amused tone, shrugging his shoulders again. 

John’s gaze shifted away from her for a brief moment. “Actually, I’m here because I need your help.” He spoke honestly, holding an unlit cigarette. “Unless you have guests over, could I stay at the House of Mystery for a few days? Because, well, let’s just say that the person who I was supposed to stay with isn’t with us anymore. May his poor soul find a way out of Hell soon.”
