Firm believer that Bellatrix used to be kind and soft. She would run around the Black manor and pick flowers for her sisters (specifically Narcissa bc she thought it was hilarious.) She’d chase after small animals and hold out her arms to fly with birds. I think she always had a thing for darker objects so crows and ravens she viewed as good luck. She’d take twigs and branches and make crowns for Sirius and Reggie, she’d styles her sisters hair and teach them how to braid. She loved to frolick everywhere and loved French love songs. Even when Cygnus would try to toughen her up she remained good hearted. It wasn’t until Andromeda left that she realized she doesn’t know how to function without her, her brain glitched and she entered a depressive state. In that borderline catatonic state she didn’t have it in her to fight back against her father and while he was abusing her, her brain started cracking until she grew confused and couldn’t differentiate between reality and dreams. She started to go mad and then met Tom Riddle. He saw the state she was in and took advantage of it, using her weak mind to turn her into the perfect soldier.
