If the tragedies didn't happen to Obito I think he would've evolved to take his PPE to the next level. I believe the next natural addition would be gloves since who wants to be touching blood and shit? And he wears them in his Tobi disguise so it's pretty spot on. Next I think would come the full body armor, a la Madara. He would probably get bullied for trying to look like Madara but like the man had a point? Why would you not wear a full suit of armor into battle??? Then he starts wearing a respirator. Is it a Konoha thing? Absolutely not, but those other ninja sure have a point. Why worry about poisonous gas your entire shinobi career when you could just wear a respirator and literally never have to worry about it again? And then Obito would start microdosing himself with hundreds of the most common poisons because what if somehow despite the armor and respirator he still gets poisoned? And then naturally he would pick up medical ninjutsu because what if he accidentally over does it with the poison? It would be pretty embarrassing having to go to the ER and be involuntarily committed because he tried to poison himself. Then once he has the knowledge of poisons and medical ninjutsu he just starts cooking up his own poisons since he might as well, and that is how Obito becomes Konoha's version of Granny Chiyo.
