oh! thank you so much for the tag!
Do you mostly read fiction or non-fiction?
I prefer fiction for sure! I love, love, love fantasy in pretty much any shape and flavor it comes in. The further away from reality the better.
Is reading for pleasure part of your daily routine? If so, how much time a day do you spend on reading?
Yes! I have a stationary bike that I like to clock time on during the week to keep my body active and I like to read while I ride! I ride for about 25 minutes so there is a dedicated chunk of time just for reading but if it's a weekend, I read for hours.
Do you often binge books?
On occasion, if I'm really into the story. I think the last book that I binged was a Warcraft one I think. Started it a couple hours into work and was done by lunch time!
Describe your average reading session 😁(Do you have a special spot where you get comfortable/is it a hard copy or an e-book/is it day or night etc.)
So, when I'm not on my bike reading, I'm on my bed or the couch, laying down. I use an e-reader so it's propped up sideways so I can get comfy. I can lay there and read all day if I'm left alone tbh and I have on more than one occasion, fallen asleep. (I usually read in the morning over the weekend, afternoons are for my partner and I bike after work)
Do you have a schedule or do you read when you feel like reading?
A bit of both but mostly when I feel like it. Which is usually when I'm at work and should be working. What boss man doesn't know won't hurt him.
Have you ever struggled with reading (e.g. issues with concentration/retaining information, learning disabilities etc.) and how did you manage to overcome it?
Yes! I was diagnosed with a learning disability at a very young age and while I have mostly grown out of it I still have instances where it's hard to take what I see on the page and process it. And I do struggle with concentrating while reading too. When that happens I usually stop and pick it back up once my mind has settled.
Can you read multiple books at once?
Nope. Just like I can't write to fics at the same time. Brain will explode.
If you're multilingual, do you intentionally choose to regularly read books in your target language(s) to maintain language proficiency? Is it a habit too, or is it a matter of the book's original language?
Sadly, I am not multilingual :(
How do you usually choose books for your to-read list?
I pick whatever sounds the most interesting at the time. No real rhyme or reason to it!
Do you keep track of the books you've read/plan to read?
Nah. I should but I don't. When it comes to fanfiction, I use the 'read later' for stuff that sounds interesting and might read and I usually bookmark stuff that I've read/currently reading that I really like. which reminds me I need to go through my bookmarks and make a proper rec list out of it.
Do you consider reading manga/comics "reading"?
Oh absolutely! Text can be so many things and take so many forms. Comics, manga, graphic novels, you name it - it all can be read!
Do you often find yourself in a reading slump? How long did your ultimate slump take?
Yeah, sadly I have. They don't always last long but I've gone through patches where I just cannot bring myself to read and it sucks bigly because reading is fun and it's fun to have fun!
