fav thing about mossman actually is that she DOES betray the player/gordon BUT betrays breen back at the end. because until u see her again after she takes eli in nova prospekt ur just assuming the worst and that shes evil but she greets u with "dont struggle until ur where he wants u u cant do anything" (and apologizes) and uve made up this idea of her being evil for power or whatever but shes just. a regular person in the same way gordon is just a guy. like theyre all scientists they werent made to solve humanity's problems in an apocalypse (however breen was a ceo of course hed be a perfect dictator) and mossman was doing what she thought would be best for her and elis safety, even tho breen foiled her plans. also i didnt actually pick up on the dumb romance subplot between her and eli until like my 6th playthru so i just thought she cared abt eli in like a looking up to a great scientist kind of way (even tho she is just as amazing of one) which i think is a more interesting dynamic. dont even get me started on how everyone ignores that she was able to make her own portal for the combine like yea for bad purposes but shes gotta be brilliant and people do not realize how good of a scientist she is

also the combine overwiki points out an interesting thing that she may hint at the fact that she might've actually planned a lot of it on her side from the beginning?? but because breen got eli involved her plans got sidetracked

anyways. i love mossman out of spite of all the people who hate her. like did u even play the game?? any possible hate i had for her after her first betrayal was gone when she got breen back and alyx cheered her on and how theyre now on good terms. also shes so swag for going up to find the borealis literally so cool but epistle 3 doesnt exist btw. never gonna discuss that one because laidlaws dumb and forgot what he wrote for the actual games just to make some rushed and skewed ending to the series

another thing, when she stops breen she says "we're doing what i couldnt do alone, stopping u" which means she has always wanted to go against him and never saw a future staying with breen under the combine so she was gonna betray him eventually it was only a matter of time

plus we cant forget shes responsible for encrypting the combines portal code so that kleiner and magnusson can stop the superportal in ep 2 shes literally so swag

and sidenote if it had been like kleiner or some other guy who turned out to be the spy people DEFINITELY wouldnt be treating him as badly as mossman. and thats on misogyny

and when she talks to gordon in the elevator i dont think shes being fake i think she would be genuinely excited to work with him even tho she was expecting to turn him into breen, but she was not expecting the combine to be coming that day seeing as they took eli and she made a deal that they wouldnt touch him if she brought in gordon. as for her being bitter about not getting the job she deserves to be MORE upset. u ever tried to get a job in this economy?

if an eventual hla sequel comes out i hope wolpaw (the guy who wrote portal) will do mossman justice shes got such interesting potential the whole games couldve been different if she had gotten the job instead of gordon
