💫ARC💫
(Honestly a great way to help indie authors and trad. authors)
💫Flower of Death by Jessica Nahas 12/13/2024 (I did read this before any form of editing has taken place. It had a great start, but the middle lost all that fire it had. The ending wasn't bad and gave me so hope that with some editing, the story could reach its capability of being a good story. Heavy on the romance, less on fantasy, sunny vs. grumpy, virgin mmc, gods, corruped gov.)
💫Book of Cin by H.M. Wolfe: 9/14/2024 (truly enjoyed this one and absolutely see the potential in this story. I was locked in from the beginning! Romantasy, shadow mommy, mental awareness, domastic abuse rep, forced proximit, lovers to enemies)
💫Untethered by Gloria Bottelma: 12/09/2024 (this was a nice, quick read. It needs some improvement in the yearning department. The foreshadowing is a little confusing or placed randomly. YA Gothic, Romance, Slow pace, Necromancer.)
💫The Myths of Ophelia by Nicole Platania 11/21/2024 (Loved this one! The author did a great job with the four different POV's in the story, and secrets that were revealed kept getting bigger and bigger as the story went on. Slow start, but other than that, I can't wait for the next and last book! Found Family)
💫Academy of Villains by Ever King 10/12/2024 (This wasn't a bad idea. I think it could be better in some areas. I liked the guys group the most. I think our mfc needs some more structure. Magic academia, assassins, fated romantasy, greek mythology, secret societies)
💫Queen of Crimson Throne by Kaitlyn Swanson 2/7/2025 (Good for a second book in a series. The dialog can feel unorganic at times, but the adventure and romance was fun! Love a man who gravels for his woman. Vampires, witches, werewolves, secrets, and a semi cliffhanger)
💫Across Time and Starlight by Alessandro Candotti 2/4/2025 (Read on Netgalley. I can't find the book on selling websites, so I'm guessing the author/publisher took them down. It had a good story premise. Writing was very poetic. You get both pov's from the two main characters. This needed more revising since the world building and time travel is very confusing. I'm not a fan of cnc so that also put me off.)
💫A Simple Twist of Fate by April Asher 5/13/2025 (Fasntasy romcom about a witch trying to figure out her nieces magic ability and giving her shifter couger ex a shot at love again. This is a "leave logic at the door" type of story. It was ok type of fun.)
💫A Theory of Dreaming by Ava Reid 7/29/2025 (Read on Netgalley. It's more of Preston's book then Effy which is still fine. The story is less action and more emotional "attack" on our main characters. These two have such an innocent and realistic love story that I adore it. Still has some elements of magic but the main focus is how the characters are navigating life after defeating the Fairy King. The gothic, whimsical, dark academia vibe continues into this story as well but they hold a darker atmosphere. I think if your looking for a story that's less on action and more on brain theory (hence the title 😆) then you'll like the continuation of this story.)
💫Masquerade of Bones by J. Ember Hintz (Read on Netgalley. This was a nice concept. I really enjoyed the beginning of the book. The romance has a kick to it but I do wish there was more yearning. The plot it's self was good, it kept my attention, and I would continue to book 2 just because of where this ended. I swear I'm cursed to forever find books with cliffhangers 😂. I think the writting needed a little more structure but over-all nice introduction.)
💫Cursed Age by A.M. Dunnewin (Read on Netgalley. This definitely had the gothic vibe I was looking for. I love this take of having airship Pirates while mixing in historical events. Emmeline is more reserved, clever, and really thinks before she acts on something. Ryland was awesome 🏴☠️! They complement each other well. I feel like our villian was missing something for me. She does horrible things to Ryland but she didn't give kick-ass villian. She was just to obsessed.)
💫The Princess Knight by Cait Jacobs 10/14/2025 (Read on Netgalley. I liked this! Very fun and simple to understand for the most part. I do feel like a glossary would have helped this story. The romance needed a little more time and depth but i still liked it. World building was decent. Murphy was adorable!! Other than that I enjoyed this!)
💫The Gilded Heiress by Joanna Shupe 8/26/2025 (I didn't mind this story. I don't think the writing style is for me and though I generally don't care about age gaps this one was a little weird to me, though it does make sense for this particular time era. I like the research done for this setting. I do feel intrigued to read more stories from this genre.
💫An Archive of Romance by Ava Reid 12/9/2025 (This was very cute! It fits the title to a T and just an adorable moment/end for Effy and Preston. It's a 15-minute read, very decorative pages, and leads into the story perfectly 🥰.)
The Curse of Gods by Kate Dramis 8/12/2025 (I can't believe I got the ok from Netgalley to read this before it came out with the audiobook 😭. Loved it!! There's nothing else to say)
💫 Lessons in Loyalty by Ever King 6/24/2025 (Definitely a step up from book 1! I did like Lyla and Bastian better than the first couple. The story flowed better and was easy to follow along. I do think this would have been even better as a spin off rather than a continuation of the first book. Other than that I look forward to book 3!)
💫 Haunting of William Thorn by Ben Alderson 9/9/2025 (This is a nice creepy, murder mystery! I do think there needed to be a little more research into people of the 1940s. Some of the diary entries came off as sounding much older than that time period, and personally, I don't see this as a horror book. Definitely gave me the creepies, but not to that extent. Other than that, this is a nice spooky read for September and into the Halloween season. 🎃)
🌟Fairydale I DNF'ed
💫 Blackwicket by Bea Northwick 9/9/2025 (Gothic, 1950's, Murder Mystery Vibe. I liked the theme of this very much. I think the story and the romance was good. I'm interested in the world, and the magic. I was satisfied with the way things ended but I'm curious as to how the author could build onto this storyline. Jack the poor kid 😢. Are two main characters had nice chemistry with each others but I don't know if the sex scenes were needed (I love a good sex scene but there are just some stories that its not needed in my opinion because the overall emotional concetion between the two is more than enough). I loved how tragic they were as characters it was fitting for the story. The next book could benefit from having an image of a mapped out magic system and I bit more focus on sentence structure when it comes to using old terms from a different time era.
💫The Weaver Bride (I did finish it but didn't like it)
💫 The Dawn of the North by Demi Winters 2/2026 (loved no notes at all until closer to publication)
💫The Death-Made Prince (Dnf'd)
⚔️Still Reading⚔️
⏸️Paused⏸️
(Swords cause some feel like a battle to get through 😂)
⏸️A Promise to Peridot (1/1/25 I need to come back to this) (I like this more than the first book and will be continuing to the last book of the series)
⏸️Raven Scholar (8/20/25 is a very ssssllllooooowwwwww read)
😮💨DNF😮💨
(I will say this to whoever reads this: if you loved any or all of these books, I am happy for you. This is not meant to be a dig)
😮💨Haunting Adeline (I was interested because of the audio clip of Teddy Hamliton saying "If I catch you I fuck you" line but upon reading it... not so much. Not that anything remotely like the story happened to me (thank god), but it felt too realistic. I had a friend whose former partner was a cop and he was a good at his job but did horrible things to her, so the story was too much for me....)
😮💨 The Bargainer Series (I stop at the second book. Wanted to like this, but the pacing wasn't for me, and the audiobooks didn't work for me either)
😮💨 The Flesh and Fires Series (the first book, I couldn't tell if I dislike it or semi liked it, so I picked up the second book and figured out that the series is not for me.)
😮💨 Fall of Ruin and Wrath (By the same author as the Flesh and Fire series. I gave it a shot. Again, it wasn't for me)
😮💨 The Powerless Series (just wasn't intrigued enough to read book 2)
