i. Elba had spent their upbringing actively working to blend in. 5 foot 11 at thirteen years old didnāt really have an exceeding amount of perks as a girl, not when your school was swarming with bullies. Teachers, strangers, and even friends had the audacity to point out things Elba had never noticed about herself. Still, Elba remained where she had to be, head down, praying it wouldnāt be like this past high school. She never worked to fit in. She had to be ignored.
ii. Except, that didnāt work out as intended. Elbaās werewolf curse triggered one new moon, rather than a full. Inside of her 5th period gym class of humans, no less. Elbaās family belonged to a clan called the Greywind werewolves. Legend says once the next generationās curse is triggered, the last must lose their powers. So, either Elbaās mother was to lose her werewolf abilities in a spiritual sacrifice done by a local wixen, or Elba would... have to die. Ethereum had made its way cross-country by the way of gossip. Before their daughter could graduate from the hellscape sheād dedicated her life to, they made the move to Obsidian City before the next full moon could approach. Ethereum did nothing for their family. Rather than Elbaās mother accepting the sacrifice sheād promised to make upon learning of her pregnancy eighteen years previous, Lori San Luis murdered her own daughter with claws slashed through her neck. Elba was found in Lower St. Vladās days later, with a funeral to follow for the unidentifiable woman on the day of the new moon. Of course her mother had chosen St. Vladimirās as a dump site, if only to incite more violence between werewolves and vampires while she left town with more power than she could harbor.
iii. Werewolves are moral beings. As in, you cannot cheat death. You absolutely canāt. You cannot! Well, everything Elba had ever learned felt to be a lie when she came to days later, buried inside of soft-to-the-touch velvet. She wailed until someone with exceptional hearing (not underheard of in Obsidian City, she came to learn) could come to her rescue. This rescue mission made headlines and she became known as Dead Girl Walking for some time. Her family was gone, her memories were scrappy, but she was alive and breathing without a single idea of how. The worldās rather apathetic, however, and soon Obsidian City got lost in other tragedies. But she will forever question the how, now nearly a decade later. Sheād never forget she was dead, and now was not.

werewolf: Elba did grow up around werewolves as a child, but that did not make any difference to her understanding of them. perhaps this werewolf or werewolf family or pack assisted Elba on her werewolf journey, helping her through the painful transitions underneath the full moon she'd never experienced. however, an unusual occurrence happened once a year. she turned underneath a new moon, rather than full. they'd never been able to figure out why. Elba is not a part of their pack now, running alongside Fenrik and friends in Bloodhearth instead of Carynthia.
banshee: though harbingers of death, this banshee heard the cries of someone who had apparently risen from the death and cheated it. this banshee led the "rescue mission" in 2012 which saved Elba, who had appeared to have been buried alive in her grave.
human: the human family who housed Elba her first year in Obsidian City. from July 2012-July 2013. they got her on her feet, clothed her and fed her. they assisted in finishing high school, finding her first job, and eventually her first apartment in the city. they might've been the only people not afraid of her at the time. could also be pirates and housed/cared for on a ship.
redcap: elba had an incredibly deep and complicated relationship with this redcap it may have lasted anywhere from 2017-2019. the ending, while rather mutual, elba broke their heart continually by never opening up how they needed. itās possible they were one of her first and only trusted friends when first arriving to bloodhearth.
