After 2,828 performances and 360 playing weeks across North America, the producers of THE BOOK OF MORMON announced today that the Jumamosi Company (second national) tour has ended its run. Originally scheduled with engagements through the summer, the decision to close was predicated by a series of cancelled dates due to public health concerns.
The second national tour of The Book of Mormon has closed. Thank you for eight years of memories, Jumamosi!
Reblog to add and share your Jumamosi memories, guys. I’m super sad about this!
* They didn’t hand out playbills to the first preview so people didn’t know that Nabulungi and Elder McKinley weren’t who had been originally announced.
* Cessalee Stovall is the falling coffee cup. Eternally.
* The video the touring cast made for the London cast when they were about to open. (Nic Rouleau took the original one down that included greetings from EVERY Jumamosi cast member to their London counterpart, along with advice, if they had any.)
* Seeing Denée Benton in her first weekend as Nabulungi and knowing there was something very special there.
* When a bunch of fans showed up in plaid for the first closing night in Chicago to make fun of Nic and his endless plaid shirts.
My most special memory is definitely from last year, when I unexpectedly met Kayla and Conner in the parking garage before the show, gave Kayla a letter I had written about how inspiring she is, and then she hugged me. Three times. Once in the parking garage, twice at the stage door. She had read my letter during intermission and as SOON as she came out of the theater and saw me she sprinted towards me and gave me a huge hug. What an amazing person.
