He did not remind him that although the water was his father’s home, he did not think that the deed had been inherited. Still, Fabian will try to make it his home. It will not be. He will lie and say it is anyway. So he contorts these falsehoods and believes them to be truths instead: Fabian loves the ocean. Fabian loves ships. Fabian loves his father. Even still, the last one in particular always trips him up.
