I'm sorry Arcane is still pretty much fully occupying my brain, so some more thoughts
Once Vi is back in Cait's life, she completely changes her attitude towards Maddie.
Also, those pillows next to Vi? Was Cait sat there waiting for Vi to recover? Did she casually fall asleep next to Vi? I will pretend that was the case.
Cait flinches away when Maddie touches her hand and Cait calls is "consoling" and that to me sounds like that's all that Maddie was.
She was there to console her when she was heartbroken from not only losing her mother but also hurting Vi and losing Vi, the woman she was falling in love with.
Her tone towards Maddie is commanding and it even surprises Maddie but I think deep down Maddie knows she can't compete with Vi. I love that Cait interrupts her before Maddie even puts hands on Vi, I find it funny it's almost like "I can't let my rebound touch my Vi"
(also how fit is Cait in this scene)
What I love is that Vi is not even moving out of Maddie's way, she doesn't even look at Maddie. Probably because she's an enforcer, never really liked her when she first met her either and I just love that Vi's entire focus in that scene is Cait.
They both have their say and Cait patiently waits for Vi to get everything off her chest before Cait throws the little boat on the floor. Cait is intelligent, she knew what was going on, but it took her time to reflect and find a better plan. I think Vi also realises that too. I don't think Vi was expecting Cait to be this aware of it herself, but that little moment grounded them both. You visually see them relax and then the real conversation starts.
Cait shares that Jinx surrendered and that's when Vi completely drops her guard and both soften their voice and I love this dynamic about them. They are honest with each other, they don't hold back but also then don't hold a grudge and listen to each other.
Besides, Cait didn't take action as she was waiting for Vi to recover. Act I Cait wouldn't have hesitated to kill Jinx there and then. This is growth and again shows that she has since reflected and prioritised what's more important. Vi or revenge?
Would I have loved more dialogue? Sure, but Arcane does tell a lot of story with subtext and actions, so I wasn't
Love wins y'all and that's all.
