First, I couldn’t ship Aviscott because we were led to believe that Scott was an abuser. Really really sucked to hear (or told not to speculate about but was very obviously the story), but at least I had majorscythe, or even other Avid ships. Plus- Scott Goldsmith was a character I loved leaning into the evil side of and so in a fucked up way I was inspired to make more fanart of that character being manipulative.

Then, I couldn’t ship anyone with Avid or I was a misogynist who valued yaoi slop over people’s boundaries and safety. Except for the people he went out of the way to flirt with afterwords. Then I was supposed to buy into the chemistry and if I didn’t I was simply too hung up on yaoi slop and should really check my biases. Not only was Scott an abuser to Avid, but I was an abuser. I wanted to throw out the bits of merch I had gotten featuring Scott out of sheer fucking guilt. I wanted to financially support Avid out of fucking guilt.

Then, I learned about the whole Avid and Marm situation and am now left freaking the fuck out because I really loved their art and trusted this guy and now I can hardly stand to finish my wips that feature him or their partner at all. But at least there are other aspects of VSMP that I love, like majorscythe- or even lumberjack! I’m so glad I didn’t throw out art of a character I loved. I’m so glad we all got the happy ending even though it feels like a massive loss. I even started to come to terms with finishing WIPs- maybe even oc-ifying Avid and Marms (but primarily Avid’s) characters so I could still have fun and enjoy VSMP, SBK, Bannerfall, and The Flight.

… and now if I so much as breathe about shipping Pyro they’re going to come for me? WHO?!?? Mx. Pyroscythe themself? Other fans? What the fuck?

Of course boundaries are allowed to change! Of course! I am happy that Maddy and Pyro communicated and are prioritizing their relationship! Really! And you cannot mandate that no one ship you ever. And you certainly cannot mandate that all unfinished wips be abandoned. You cannot force a whole fanbase to live in fucking fear of retribution??? What the hell man. Get a fucking dni tag, block the shipping tags you don’t want to see.
