Alright babe listen up because I’ve read probably hundreds of webtoons over the years (on both the translated app and the Naver app) and these are imo the all-time BEST webtoons you can get in English:
- LOOKISM: anyone who hasn’t read lookism needs to GET ON IT istg. The plot has a bit of a problem sometimes with getting hung up on sub-plots, but the character depth is amazing and there’s a reason it’s one of the most popular webtoons in Korea. I live for the slice of life eps.
Read for: Jay, that aesthetic corner shop kink, adorable gangsters, Johan’s badass techwear look, students that never study, and every martial art ever.
- I LOVE YOO: my favourite, I won’t lie. Amazingly deep characters, a lot of the ‘dark side of Seoul’ stuff that LOOKISM shares. Now would be a good time to start reading because shit is about to go DOWN over the next few weeks, I’m sure.
Read for: WcDonalds, the poor-girl-getting-caught-in-a-rich-family’s-drama trope, a love square (?), so much character development, and LITERAL wig snatching.
- AGE MATTERS: adorable. Dramatic. Follows an older character (30) who isn’t a teen student for once, which is refreshing, and ends up becoming a rich guy’s PA. So much tension.
Read for: so many love interests, Standiel, Rose just generally being a beautiful bundle of joy, and
- FREAKING ROMANCE: literally the most aesthetic webtoon ever. It’s stunning. Follows a girl who moves into an apartment that’s ‘haunted’ by webtoons answer to white-haired Baekhyun <3 This webtoon hooked me so much that I ended up reading it through a NYE party. Top tip: listen to lo-fi when you read it. I made a whole playlist for it.
Read for: bisexual crisis, the classic we-can’t-touch trope, and just a soft, dreamy atmosphere.
