people of the art community, if ANYONE IS LISTENING, does anyone have recs to learn painterly rendering? or like lighting anything because no youtube video is working for the last like. 5 years? any tips??
start doing black and white drawings and focus on texture .Search on the internet " steel Texture" and do a simple exercise in copy. take this photo and put it as a reference layer. suck out the colors with the eye drop function and set them into the palatte function. Lay in the mid- tone grey . then put in your blacks. then pop in your whites . go into your picture at 300% resolution. use the smudge tool to blend all the colors and go into the darkest darks again and the whitest whites. I like to spot hit the details with the spray paint can.
do different textures like Tree Bark
A
leather Jacket.
Fur
Feathers
Hair. There are tricks to laying down "inks" like leaving skin breaks , so the image does not get too dark. Blocking shadows. Leaving a dot in the pubil to show reflected light in the eye.
