quick rant; somewhat recently there was a critical role panel where someone asked how the cast's c1 characters would react to their c4 characters and it was a question that gave me a lot of perspective on how I write my own characters. thinking about how your characters would be viewed by others, not just by themselves.

SPOILERS for once upon a starlight and stardust rhapsody: anthem below!
Morning frost - Ziggy Woog
Frost and Ziggy are two halves of the same coin i think. Both are very gifted in their magical field, and both are still learning. They both yearn for companionship, and now that they have their found family, they will do everything in their power to cherish and protect this bond. Ziggy would love Frost's light-up shoes. Frost would get a headache within five minutes of Ziggy ranting. I think there's so much more I could say if i was caught up in Anthem, but alas. There's a connection to be made about lost siblings, to death or otherwise.
Gricko Grimgrin - Ko Tetsutora
Ko has an affinity for glowblins (the author's thinly veiled kopix agenda) so she takes a liking to gricko pretty quickly. Gricko had an affinity for horns (on account of being a punk rock guy) so he is equally enthralled by the situation. These two share an irresponsible amount of beers and go to TOWN on some stupid shit. They're going gambling or something equally wacky. On the other hand, they do have a deeper connection, having lost close family to the grim world of the green light district. Tales of Lorelei and Mrs. Ume are shared over ADDITIONAL beers, and it strengthens their shared resolve to make the world a better place.
Torbek - Pyke Starfall
These two share two things- nonchalance and a cigarette. I reckon not too many words are exchanged, but they don't really need to. Torbek and Pyke are both guys that are very in tune with those around them, even if they don't wear their hearts on their sleeves. They care, greatly so, and they show it with unparalleled strength, using their powers to keep their crew safe. They would also be great sparring partners.
Kremy Lecroux - Rett Indigo
This is a very fun parallel to make but I also want to point you to this specific YouTube video about how Richie takes a leadership role in most campaigns, because Rett and Kremy are very very similar in that sense.
This is their circus, this is their monkeys, whether they like it or not. But it's a great thing they do like their respective motley crews. I think the two would bond over their leadership style. Kremy is very worried that his past will catch up to him and, as a result, hurt those he loves, while Rett has trust in his crew that if something were to happen, they are more than capable of defending themselves.
They also share an odd "will they/won't they" with their closest ally. I will not be taking extra questions at this time
Gideon Coal - Rex Maxim
Oh Gideon would DESPISE this glowing fucker. Rex is loud, he's stuck-up, and he's not a thinker. Rex is self-absorbed, guided by his own personal interest and fame. Gideon is a devoted man, with his highest priority most likely being Kremy. Seeing a man as selfish as rex run around, fully believing he's this big shot wise-guy, would piss Gideon off to no end.
(Once again reminder that I have no idea what rex's fate is as of s2 so he might've had a redemption arc and i simply do not know)
Pixel Pop - Blarbie
I think Blarbie would be a fan of pixel. not just in the friendship sense, but in the actual fangirl sense. I like to think there's pixel merch in-universe and that Blarbie definitely owns at least one shirt.
Almost wrote all of this for witchlight because I misread lmaooooo but I could also so witchlight later!! i have many thoughts about pixel and twig :)

A funny side effect of MCYT being my first fandom is that as I branch out and make fanart for different fandoms I realize I don’t give a flying fuck about canon characters details. It’s the different between treating art like baking vs cooking.
Lore accurate fanartist’s analyze different images of the character’s canon designs with a few small extra details based on the story. It’s well researched and chock full of reasoning behind their designs/headcanons
Me on the other hand? As long as it keeps their same vibes who gives a shit????Especially if it makes their design cooler and more yummy for me to draw! Give them tails, different hair, different clothes, different heights! Whatever the heart desires <3
Okay I’ve done Witchlight, now I wanna know who everyone’s favorite Stardust Rhapsody character is! I’m sticking with Anthem for now cause that’s what I’ve watched, but eventually I’ll do a poll for Overture when I get around to it. Pyke and Ko are my favs I think, followed closely by Ziggy (and Rex Maxim). And feel free to yap about why you love them! That’s lowkey my fav part of these polls lmao
Pixel is not only my favorite sdra character but one of my favorite characters in media period. Aesthetically she’s everything I enjoy: Pinks, Glitter, Big hair, and an unapologetic love for femininity! She’s a beacon of positivity and enthusiasm that everyone on the rhapsody can’t help but have a soft spot for even when she’s being a bit silly/obtuse.
On a deeper level though Pix’s story has a level of depth and nuance that you wouldn’t expect at a first glance! Everything that Pix does/says (even the jokes) has some sort of tie to her more tragic reality, like her hyper sexual tendencies, over reliance on drugs, or even her generally naive personality that led her to be exploited by Mr W. Niki plays her wonderfully! There are so many subtle hints to Pix’s character and life that are really fucked up if you pay attention to them (the moment in EP 8 where she excitedly says “I’ve never had to just preform before!” Comes to mind)
Through all of these hardships Pixel is still somehow able to remain kind and empathetic to others. Even someone like the Viceroy, who caused Pixel SOOO much pain and suffering, wasn’t seen as just a monster by Pix but instead a person with a shitty life. She endures the things she does because she wants to make a world a better place, especially for those in the same emotionally vulnerable state she once was in <3
TLDR Pixel Pop is equal parts hilarious and heartbreaking but through it all she is relentlessly trying to make the world a better place and that’s why I adore her
