I'm sorry, but Gooseworx saying that making a cartoon was "more trouble than it's worth" REEKS of privilege and it pisses me off more than I expected.

Does she understand how many people would sell their fucking legs to see their passion project come to life and be beloved? So many people will never get to see that. And not only did Goose do that, but now she's set for life. She'll be able to make anything she wants and have a whole team backing it.

While many of us are over here forced to only work on our art and stories in between exhausting and degrading full time jobs, sometimes with the only reward being whatever pride we can muster up in ourselves, she won. She did the thing. I'm scared I won't be able to finish ONE of my stories before I die whereas she could easily go on to make many more without being dragged down by the shitty obligations most of us are stuck with nor the burden of having to prove to the world that her stories are worth telling.

The TADC fandom sucks ass, yes, but so does every fandom. Every fandom is full of overly parasocial idiots who think their favorite author is on "their side" specifically and then they throw a fit when said author contradicts that. The mistake Goose made was thinking she could get a mob of assholes with no critical thinking skills to behave instead of maintaining a healthy distance from what that mob thinks.

For the record, I've always thought Goose's takes were based as hell. She rejects the typical fandom bullying and creep behavior, even to the point of not falling for attempts to claw fun facts about her characters out of her for the purpose of using them against fans who have different interpretations of the characters (see: the "you gotta tell us their sexualities" ask being met with "no"), but she's also not afraid to say, "hey, maybe consider dying if you're a bigoted piece of shit".

If I ever "make it big", I want to be like that. This isn't a "cancel Goose" post. We need MORE authors speaking out against the typical garbage fandoms produce to hurt each other, and Goose is a breath of fresh air in that regard.

I'm just bothered by how many people are like "uwu poor innocent Goose, it's so heartbreaking that the FANS made her get burnt out on TADC!" Because no, burnout happens for more complex reasons than that (hi, I got burnt out on one of the stories I love the most due to getting overwhelmed on my own after years of getting tangled in too many confusing story decisions, thanks), the fans are as insufferable as any other fandom ("just do what Toby Fox does" and his fandom is still vile, just not as vile to him as they are to each other), and frankly the backlash to Goose going "who carrrrres" (about the leaking of the entire TADC finale) is fully warranted.

"who cAres" that people flocked to shove money down your throat for something they can now see for free early anyway? buddy?????

anyway I'm done kicking the hornet's nest for the day.
