Diana “excels at everything”, including “excelling” at masking. This probably leads to her just being a very obedient good girl who gets good grades and does whatever the teachers want her to do and doesn’t complain or express her own desires very much.

But imagine, a straight As pride of the school overachiever student like Diana… falling for the class clown Akko???

Diana developing a crush on Akko would force her out of her comfort zone, from an area she’s in complete control in (her studies and magic) to an area she has next to no practical experience in (social stuff, and understanding her own wants and likes outside of magic)

It means the Diakko ship gives us: 1: the absolutely hilarious and adorable sight of a hyper competent character falling for the hyper incompetent character.

2: the character growth of Diana learning to be able to explore her own wants and desires, not just those she was told to have.

3: A whole new side of a character that’s mostly unexplored in the canon material, but still feels so faithful to the canon!!

All of these awesome things (and probably more I’m forgetting!!) because of the exact way in which Diana is autistic!!
