I feel like some people need to relearn Genre Expectations... "Man, this tragedy sucks!!! Why didn't they just do XYZ, then everything could have ended happily!!" well, then it wouldn't be a tragedy, would it. "Man, this lighthearted teen romcom is terrible, it's so sappy and unrealistic!!" Well, yeah. If it had been gritty and dark, it wouldn't have been a lighthearted romcom, would it. so last year during a period of intense suicidal depression i made this necklace that i always wear, right, and the thing is it's genuinely brought me a lot of comfort and relief and i've developed a strong sentimental attachment to it, to the point that i can inarguably state that it's had a net positive effect on my mental wellbeing. however i did now just have to stop to almost throw up laughing because i realised that i've succumbed to the amulet.

"Pink isnt one of the flowers" she is!! she literally is...

this also feels like a pretty good metaphor for her being trans. shes "not really a 'real' flower" but she changes her appearance and name to be like the other flowers and is accepted into their group. like, doesnt that read as a trans metaphor? if you replace "flower" with "woman", it reads as her being unconfident in not being a cis woman and fearing that she might be accepted as a girl. and they dont care! they dont care if shes not a "real" flower, or a "biological" woman, they care that she likes throwing knives and bombs and she has a big tutu and she has a humans tail. shes part of their group

also, Seth doesnt say theyre "pretending to be human", they say theyre "TRYING to be human". because Pink isnt pretending to be something shes not, shes just trying to be herself. am i reaching? id like to think not

The dragoness dives from the skies as she hears a well known cry of anguish. The kind she knows because she herself once produced such wails.

There, in a dark alley, is a trans girl huddled against the wall. Masked figures standing over her, clearly set on violence. They won't succeed this time.

One second, the arm of one attacker is raised. In the next, it's gone. Just a splatter of gore on the man tells the others that something terrible is about to happen to them too.

Then they hear the growl from the darkness. Golden eyes open and pierce those who sought easy prey. The men are completely stunned, ancient instincts sundering their brutal intentions. The dragoness surges forward, claws and fangs bared. It takes only seconds and the men are reduced to battered corpses. Torn limbs lie everywhere, the walls of the alley dripping with gore.

A single gasp fills the sudden silence. The girl is looking wide-eyed at the dragoness. Her rescuer tries to look as peaceful and well-mannered as possible which is quite difficult when there's still a piece of bone sticking out of your jaws.

"You are safe now", she rumbles in a soothing voice. "Everything will be alright. There's a dragon in you too. Let's find her together."
