đŽBANISHING VS WARDINGđŽ
(what really is the difference?)
â¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§ż
â¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§ż â¨đ§żâ¨đ§ż
BANISHING
Banishing is far more specific and direct than warding.
â¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§ż â¨đ§żâ¨đ§ż
WHY IS IT USED?ďżź
Banishing is used to get rid of a particulur energy, spirit, or person. Think carefully before banishing, as it's a strong form of defensive magic.
â¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§żâ¨đ§ż â¨đ§żâ¨đ§ż
BANISHING METHODS
USE THE ELEMENTS
burn a slip of paper with your target's name on it
throw a leaf with your target's name on it into a running river/stream
burn corresponding herbs and pass the smoke through your space
CANDLES
anoint your candle with corresponding herbs and oils, then burn it
when the candle has burnt out. the banishing is complete
SIGILS
make your own banishing sigil find one that resonates with you
place it in the space or on the item you are banishing energy from
HERBS + TINCTURES
use herbal smoke to force energy out of a space or object
make a spray or herbal tineture to sprinkle around your home
FOLLOW YOUR INTUITION
use the method that calls to you
never use a method that feels wrong or that you haven't researched thoroughly

WARDING
Warding is a gentler form of defensive magic that is used in a more general sense.
đŽâ¨đŽâ¨đŽâ¨đŽâ¨đŽâ¨đŽâ¨đŽâ¨đŽâ¨đŽ
WHY IS IT USED?
Warding is used to protect and guard from negative energies of any kind - it redirects energy away from you or your space.
đŽâ¨đŽâ¨đŽâ¨đŽâ¨đŽâ¨đŽâ¨đŽâ¨đŽâ¨đŽ
WARDING METHODS
VISUALIZATION
use your intention and energy to visualize a powerful barrier of protecting light around yourself or your space for more info on ENERGETIC PROTECTION click HERE
GUARDIANS
create a guardian to guard your home or space from negative energies
use a small object, enchant it with your intention, and keep it in a safe, permanent place
CRYSTALS
corresponding crystals can be worn as jewelry to protect against negative energy
placing erystals in a room or around you house will create a protective barrier
SALT
black salt can be ured in banishing rituals or used alone
sprinkle salt around your door and windows or make protection jars
HERBS
burn protective herbs and pass the smoke through your space or tools
sprinkle herbal oils and tinctures on yourself and your space for protective barriers
FOLLOW YOUR INTUITION
use the method that calls to you
never use a method that feels wrong or that you haven't researched thoroughly

Growing your own herbs will give them extra magical properties.Â
Before cooking or baking an important meal, bless your kitchen and caste a protection circle to keep only good energies in.Â
Use sigils when adding sauces or spices to your meal.Â
Create affirmations and spells to say out loud when baking or cooking your favorite meals.Â
Make herbal remedies to cure colds or small illnesses.Â
Sing or play music to bring positive energies while cooking.Â
Gift baked goods to friends, family or someone in need.Â
Stir your food clockwise to bring good luck.Â
Bless your most important tools, like a witch spoon, to make every meal extra special and magical.Â

whish they told us this in school, all they did was say âfeel for lumps, you will know when you feel itâ
Sigil placement idea:
Get a light colored shirt, (or dark and use bleach) spin it up and rubber band it for tie dying, use the dyes to draw a sigil on the wrapped up shirt, then when you open it up the meaning is within the shirt but itâs unidentifiable as a sigil
You then have that sigilâs energy/purpose with you whenever you wear said shirt!

Can we find a sun god or diety from every timezone and make a map of them all?
We probably can, but the question is should we?
How else will ship captains know who to pray to when they circumnavigate the globe?
âŚGive me until the end of the weekend.Â
I actually had some unexpected free time today so I was able to create this a lot faster than I expected.Â
It isnât perfect, but following the initial post I assigned each timezone one sun deity, so travelers know who they might pray to while exploring the world.
This was a lot of fun to create and to research mythologies from across the world, and I think I learned a couple of things doing so!
Well, there you have it folks. Safe travels.
when i say âunfollow me if you support trumpâ im not saying it ironically. no, seriously, if you support trump then i dont want your disgraceful ass to be in any way associated with my blog. get out.

I feel like this would be a slippery slope towards making it illegal for people to choose to not vote.
thatâs already how it is in australia
Thatâs just so fucked up. :( Do certain medical conditions exempt you?
?????? why is it be fucked up to have compulsory voting? thatâs the way it is in most democratic countries? itâs a part of being a citizen, like paying taxes and obeying speed limits? the fine for not voting is only like $50 and because of the compulsory voting law, our country bends over backwards to make it accessible: itâs always on a weekend, lasts most of the day, and is set up at schools and community centers so thereâs one within easy reach of almost everybody. you can also mail your ballot or vote early if youâll be out of the country on the day. like, ITâS EASY TO VOTE, and the penalty isnât even that ridiculous. i donât understand why the usa doesnât have this, except obviously it would make it harder to literally stop minorities from voting.
I think we Americans tend to forget that a lot of other countries donât actively work to make it harder to vote.
Adding to this here, in Australia you donât have to vote. Or, more precisely, thereâs no way they can tell if you ruined your ballot. You have to turn up, get your name marked off, but you can put a line through the ballot if you donât think any of the candidates are worth voting for. Or do this:Â
Or this:Â
Or this:Â
You have get your name crossed off (if you donât want to wear the fine), but you donât have to make your vote counted if youâre opposed to it.Â
And it is so, so easy to vote. Stuck at work or on holidays? Thatâs fine. Do a postal vote. Â Stuck in hospital? Thatâs fine. Theyâll go to you. Stuck in an old peopleâs home and canât get around? Again, theyâll go to you. Itâs amazing to me that itâs so hard for so many Americans to actually vote. If you make it compulsory, than at least the government is obligated to provide you with the means to vote.Â
And look, I get it. Sometimes I donât want to vote either. But I suck it up, I walk three minutes down the street, and I hope that this year theyâre selling lamingtons again. Oh, and I buy a democracy sausage, which, even if all the candidates suck, makes the effort of turning up pretty worthwhile.Â
ALSO, you can see even on the fucked up ballots that you NUMBER CANDIDATES IN ORDER OF PREFERENCE. Thereâs no need to calculate whether I would be throwing away my vote on the candidate that I most agree with if theyâre not from a major party. I can say, I want that independent person to get in, but if not them, give me Big Party A, and if not them, that minor party person is still better that Big Party B, and Iâm not giving any preference to the Lunatic Fringe Party.
Our system certainly has some issues still, but I can show up to somewhere nearby, line up for a few minutes (if at all), vote exactly in line with my values (on paper, leaving a paper trail that can be recounted), and then buy a sausage and some home made cupcakes on my way out.
A countryâs voting system matters a hell of a lot and every citizen deserves one that makes it easy to vote and results in a government that is representational and accountable.
And by the way, one time I had a bad asthma flare-up on Election Day and didnât make it to my polling station. I got my fine in the mail, I filled out the form explaining why I couldnât vote, no more fine. I would rather have, you know, expressed my preference for who should run my country, but they were cool with the fact that I couldnât do it that day.
âoh no, what if people actually have to participate in picking the government officials who will impact their livesâ jesus christ
For the last time, for everyone who still doesnât understand: not voting is not a tool of resistance, itâs a tool of surrender.

A Witchâs Ingredients: Sand
Sand is an abundant resource that can be found across the world including along the coasts, through deserts and even in many peopleâs yards and gardens. Sand is rather easy to obtain and natural making it ideal for witchcraft. Though some types of sand may be harder to obtain, and more costly, than others, let this post be a guide on how to utilize it for its magical properties.
Types of Sand & Their Correspondences
Beach/Coastal Sand: calming, grounding, cleansing, connecting to the sea, self-love, protection and warding, motivation, memory, spiritual clarity, purification of the heart, easing pain, physical and spiritual strength, can represent both the elements of earth and water
Ocean Sand (from the ocean floor/deep sea): primordial energy, banishing negative emotions and energy, grounding, mental clarity, psychic clarity and strengthening, divination, guidance, ancient wisdom and power, connections to the sea and primordial waters, birth, creation, can represent both the elements of earth and water
Desert Sand: curses and removing energy from others, weakening, draining, banishing, grounding, mental clarity, physical health, enduring hardships, âdrying upâ love and past emotions, healing heartbreak, burying the past, often related to burial ceremonies
Volcanic Sand: destruction, intense energy, strength, death, rebirth, banishing, secrets or hidden messages, warding, baneful magic, offensive magic, often represents both earth and fire at once
River Sand/Silt: fertility, procreation, movement, flowing energy, travels, change
Lake/Pond Sand: the present, calmness, serenity, inner focus, self-reflection and meditation
Swamp/Wetland Sand: mystery, secret keeping, silencing lies and rumors, binding, curses related to becoming lost or emotional heaviness, often represents both water and earth at once, often related to animal magic specifically those that live in swamp land
Unearthed/Buried Sand: grounding, hidden power, addressing past issues and mistakes, overcoming controversy, self-discovery, introspection, emotional healing, moving on from past scars
Biogenic Sand/Bone Sand/Shell Sand: healing, moving on emotionally, remembrance but letting go of the pain and loss, honoring those lost (often at or to the sea), close connections to necromancy
Black Sand: protection, warding, banishing, relates to necromancy and spirit work
Pink Sand: love, beauty, youth, harmony, adjusting to change, remembering the past and lost loved ones, rebirth, emotional and mental healing, forgiveness of self and others
Red Sand: strength, courage, valor, relates to fire rather than earth
Yellow Sand: divination, focus, improving memory and skills, mental health, grounding and centering, represents both earth and air elements sometimes both at once
White Sand: purity, cleansing, protection, wisdom, preparing for change, physical and emotional balance, harmonizes all aspects of oneself
Combinations of Sand and Other Ingredients
Sand and Soil: grounding, balance, cleansing, protection of loved ones and family
Sand and Salt: change, growing power, dreams, purification, warding, protection, longevity
Sand and Ash: remembrance, the past, divination
Sand and Clay: change, mental fortitude
Sand and Kelp/Seaweed: beauty, youth, birth, fertility, the ocean
The History
Not much history on the use of sand in magic from what I can find that is a reliable source, but I was able to find some bits about its use.
Sand has been used in connections to rituals for the dead and in burial practices in many different cultures to a varying degree. In some sand was used for burying the deceased such as very early Ancient Egypt for its mummification properties before better mummification methods were invented and utilized. Placing sand into graves or coffins of the deceased somethings as a means to connect them to their homelands if that person was traveling into foreign lands or countries. Some stories speak about mixing the ashes of the dead with sand to be kept in the home. Other stories tell of people mixes ashes from fires or the hearth with sand and casting it out into the sea for lost sailors who could not be brought home.Â
Sand was also used historical in some types of spell jars and vessels. In some places sand was put into jars and bottles and given to sailors to keep them connected to home even when sailing. Others said carrying sand could protect one from being lost at sea or from disaster, likely where the history of sand being used for protection properties came from. It has also been used in witchâs bottles and for burying spells for varying purposes. Some cultures would bury offerings to deities into the sand of beaches or deserts.
Modern Use
Sand is still a common ingredient for many sea witches and worshipers of ocean related deities to utilize in their craft and in their altars. Deities commonly related to sand are Poseidon, Aphrodite, Psamathe, Thalassa, Aegir, Neptune and Veles. Sand is also often used in altars to represent either earth or water when representing the cardinal directions or the 4 elements. Some will use sand to represent both in cases of smaller altars.
Modernly, sand is often used in spell jars and bottles when used in spellwork or as a vessel to charge, cleanse and bury objects or tools such as crystals, poppets, amulets and trinkets. Sea witches or witches with accesses to large amount of sand will often use it for grounding and circle casting. Some will use it for runes and sigils as well.
Storing Sand
For those wishing to store and use collected sand ensure that there is nothing undesirable in it - garbage, sharp bits of glass, decomposing fish or animals, insects etc. Shift it thoroughly to ensure anything that could be potentially dangerous is removed and if needed properly disposed of. Once the sand has been shifted ensure it is dry before you seal it into anything.
Wet sand can house bacteria and mold - which can also smell quite foul when the container is opened again. You can use the sun to dry it or indoor heaters at a safe distance. Spread it out thin and flat to help ensure it is thoroughly dried if it is damp or wet.
Once dried the best way to store sand is inside of glass or ceramic vessels. Jars and bottles are the most ideal. Ensure that they are sealed tightly to ensure no spillage or condensation can get inside.

Iâm surprised more people donât talk about making herb bundles out of mint, honestly. It has so many modern cultural associations with cleanliness, plus itâs a powerful grower. You literally have to pot it separately from everything else so it doesnât grow like a weed and overpower anything you plant it with. Doesnât that sound like it would make a great bundle to cleanse your house with, get everything feeling clean and absolutely bust up competing energies?
me @ those black figures in the corner of my eye at my house that disappear when i turn in that direction: i know youâre there bitch
10 Unconventional Spell Ingredients
Ingredients for spells can be found pretty much anywhere. Here are ten you may not have thought of, most of which Iâve used!
The ribbon used to tie a bouquet: Very versatile ingredient! Can be used to symbolise love, connection and happiness. The ribbonâs correspondences can be varied based on the situation by which you acquired the bouquet. A bouquet given to you by your partner on your first anniversary, for example, will have strong love energy and could even be used in a spell to reignite the âsparkâ in the relationship. If the bouquet was given to you by a best friend on your birthday, it would correspond with friendship and potentially have solar energy (with a birthday celebrating one revolution of the sun). The ribbon could also symbolise your connection to whomever gave you the bouquet. I keep the ribbons I get off bouquets for this purpose!
The thorns from a rose given to you:Â I kept the thorns from roses that were given to me by an ex and used them when performing a curse. Really good for symbolising toxic relationships or helping someone realise theyâre causing you pain. You could use thorns off roses in your garden, but the thorns will act better as a taglock if theyâre given to you.
Bobby pins:Â Structure, organisation and beauty. An air of temporary composure when things might be falling apart. Perfect for glamours for this reason.
Greeting cards:Â Happiness, love, relationships, friendship, connection, celebration, appreciation. The occasion upon which they were given and who they were given by will of course affect their energy.
Old clothes: Another versatile ingredient. If you feel the old clothes represent a version of yourself that you want to let go of, they could be used in a cleansing ritual (perhaps by burning). If they were clothes you really liked but wore so much that theyâre breaking, they could symbolise beauty, comfort or contentment. Also a good taglock if they were gifted to you by someone. Poppets are extra potent when constructed from this fabric.
Train/bus tickets:Â Discovery, exploration and opportunity. If the ticket is taking you to a favourite place it might correspond with happiness. If the ticket was acquired on holiday it might correspond with relaxation.
Stickers you still have from your childhood:Â Innocence, happiness, creativity. Can symbolise bringing back something which has been lost.
Washi tape:Â Small blessings, excitement, beauty, adding something good to an otherwise ordinary situation. Colour and symbol correspondences may also come into play here.
Wrapping paper: Can symbolise happiness, disappointment (if the gift sucked) or gratitude. Could be used in beauty spells or for glamours. If the wrapping paper came from a disappointing gift, it could even be used in a hex/curse for someone who tries to sugarcoat terrible situations, or changes the topic/turns it on you when you try to approach them about issues in your relationship. Could be use for prosperity or money spells.
Guylian seashell chocolates:Â Really great offering for Aphrodite (chocolate and the ocean). Useful in sea witchcraft, or as an offering to ocean deities. Good for beauty and love spells.

writing-prompt-s:
Valhalla does not discriminate against the kind of fight you lost. Did you lose the battle with cancer? Maybe you died in a fist fight. Even facing addiction. After taking a deep drink from his flagon, Odin slams his cup down and asks for the glorious tale of your demise!
Oh my god, this is beautiful.
A small child enters Valhalla. The battle they lost was âhiding from an alcoholic father.â Odin sees the flinch when he slams the cup and refrains from doing it again. He hears the childâs pain; no glorious battle this, but one of fear and wretched survival.
He invites the child to sit with him, offers the choicest mead and instructs his men to bring a sword and shield, a bow and arrow, of the very best materials and appropriate size. âHere,â he says, âyou will find no man who dares to harm you. But so you will know your own strength, and be happy all your days in Valhalla, I will teach you to use these weapons.â
The sad day comes when another child enters the hall. Odin does not slam his cup; he simply beams with pride as the first child approaches the newcomer, and holds out her bow and quiver, and says ânobody here will hurt you. Everyone will be so proud you did your best, and Iâll teach you to use these, so you always know how strong you are.â
ââââ
A young man enters the hall. He hesitates when Odin asks his story, but at long last, it ekes out: skinheads after the Pride parade. His partner got into a building and called for help. The police took a little longer than perhaps they really needed to, and two of those selfsame skinheads are in the hospital now with broken bones that need setting, but six against one is no fair match. The fear in his face is obvious: here, among men large enough to break him in two, will he face an eternity of torment for the man he left behind?
Odin rumbles with anger. Curses the low worms who brought this man to his table, and regales him with tales of Loki so to show him his own welcome. âA day will come, my friend, when you seek to be reunited, and so you shall,â Odin tells him. âTo request the aid of your comrades in battle is no shameful thing.â
âââ-
A woman in pink sits near the head of the table. Sheâs very nearly skin and bones, and has no hair. This will not last; health returns in Valhalla, and joy, and light, and merrymaking. But now her soul remembers the battle of her life, and it must heal.
Odin asks.
And asks again.
And the words pour out like poisoned water, things she couldnât tell her husband or children. The pain of chemotherapy. The agony of a mastectomy, the pain still deeper of âwe found a tumor in your lymph nodes. Iâm so sorry.â And at last, the tortured question: what is left of her?
Odin raises his flagon high. âWhat is left of you, fair warrior queen, is a spirit bright as fire; a will as strong as any forged iron; a life as great as any sea. Your battle was hard-fought, and lost in the glory only such furor can bring, and now the pain and fight are behind you.â
In the months to come, she becomes a scop of the hallâno demotion, but simple choice. She tells the stories of the great healers, Agnes and Tanya, who fought alongside her and thousands of others, who turn from no battle in the belief that one day, one day, the war may be won; the warriors Jessie and Mabel and Jeri and Monique, still battling on; the queens and soldiers and great women of yore.
The day comes when she calls a familiar name, and another small, scarred woman, eyes sunken and dark, limbs frail, curly black hair shaved close to her head, looks up and sees her across the hall. Odin descends from his throne, a tall and foaming goblet in his hands, and stuns the hall entire into silence as he kneels before the newcomer and holds up the goblet between her small dark hands and bids her to drink.
âAll-Father!â the feasting multitudes cry. âWhat brings great Odin, Spear-Shaker, Ancient One, Wand-Bearer, Teacher of Gods, to his knees for this lone waif?â
He waves them off with a hand.
âThis woman, LaTeesha, Destroyer of Cancer, from whom the great tumors fly in fear, has fought that greatest battle,â he says, his voice rolling across the hall. âShe has fought not another body, but her own; traded blows not with other limbs but with her own flesh; has allowed herself to be pierced with needles and scored with knives, taken poison into her very veins to defeat this enemy, and at long last it is time for her to put her weapons down. Do you think for a moment this fight is less glorious for being in silence, her deeds the less for having been aided by others who provided her weapons? She has a place in this great hall; indeed, the highest place.â
And the children perform feats of archery for the entertainment of all, and the women sing as the young man who still awaits his beloved plays a luteâwhich, after all, is not so different from the guitar he once used to break a manâs face in that great final fight.
Valhalla is a place of joy, of glory, of great feasting and merrymaking.
And it is a place for the soul and mind to heal.
literal tears in my eyes omg
This is a very beautiful thought, but Valhalla isnât the only grand hall one can go to for their afterlife; Iâd love to hear stories as beautiful as this for other halls.
There is a young girl, her body frail and small. The girl bares the marks of so many scars, so many beatings from her broken home. Every night was a constant fight to stay safe, every day at school, she had to say her bruises were from playing too hard. Her teachers would look at her, but not see what was happening, and the girl kept suffering. She hardly had a childhood before her mother took it from her one night, a drug induced rage that ended her life far too soon.Â
The girl enters the hall of Folkvangr, sobbing at every step. The goddess Freya, ethereal and lovely, sits upon a golden throne at the highest point of the hall. Freya is concerned, her brows furrowed.Â
âWhy do you cry, child?â she asks, her voice rings like a thousand bells, echoing through the mighty hall.Â
The little girl hiccups, she fidgets and hides her scars, âyou are so beautiful, and Iâm afraid Iâm too ugly to be here.âÂ
Freya descends from her throne, gliding and golden like the passing of sunlight through trees. She kneels in front of the girl and embraces her.
âDear child, I am the Vanadis Freya, goddess of beauty and battle. I have the first choice of the slain, and I chose you. You are beautiful and your fight is over. You have a home with me now. I will teach you to fight so that you never need to be afraid again, and I will love you no matter what.âÂ
The girl looks up and sees the faces of gently smiling women and girls of all ages and colors behind the goddess. She knows that she has gained many mothers and grandmothers and sisters. The girl knows that for the first time since she can remember, she will finally be loved.
There is an old man with old wounds. He fought in war to protect everyone, only to come home to poverty and sadness. The old man lived the final days of his life on a bench in the park, and no one mourned him.Â
When he wakes up, he is in a dark house, made of stone. Snow falls sleepily outside. There are cheery little candles on top of many stout wooden tables in the great room. A tall pale woman sits with a black dog at one of these tables. There are people all around; eating, laughing, playing games like old friends. The house is loud and merry with fellowship.
A call rings out over all the noise.Â
âGood to see ya pal! Come sit with us!â
A younger man beckons towards the old man, and he reluctantly joins the youngster and his companions at the table.Â
Many of the men and women at the table pat him on the back. The ladyâs dog curls up at his feet. One of them even pushes their bowl of hot stew to the old man. The old timer enjoys the warmth in his bones, the thought of not going to sleep hungry fills him up with happiness that makes his eyes sting with the icy bite of tears.
âI appreciate it all, but surely this is a mistake. I donât know you allâ the old man is afraid that now they will shoo him away, like so many others. Instead, the lady with the dog kindly grasps his hand, her face melts in understanding.Â
âThis is Helheim, and in Helheim, we are all remembered. I am Hel. You are among friends now. You will never go hungry, you will never be alone again.âÂ
Time passes, and the old man has made many friends in Helheim. Some nights, when the snow falls hardest, a new person will appear, shy and uncertain. The old man always rises from his seat, always certain to have a warm drink in both hands. The old man gives the newcomer his friendliest smile and says,
âGood to see ya pal, come sit with us.âÂ
Two young men, both in love. They hoped to get married, but then the doctors said the two worst words you could ever hear. The sickness ravaged one of them, and broke the heart of the other. The sick man barely recognized himself in the mirror anymore, and the other felt like he was drowning in helplessness.Â
Months later, itâs the night of the funeral for the sick man. His lover clings to photos of them together. Â He canât see through the hurt, he canât find it in himself to do anything but cry. His entire body aches with how much he misses his lover. The young man turns to cheap gas station beers to drown out the pain. Driving home with too many open cans on the floor, he hits a deer and tumbles into a ditch.Â
He finds himself on the ground in a golden forest, with trees arching so high into the sky, he can barely see the tops. The falling leaves dance to the song of the gentle winds, and the sunlight plays over everything in sight. He realises its not the wind singing; thereâs the melody of many singing voices carried on the breeze. The young man follows it to a bright clearing in the woods. Many people are there, making flower crowns and laughing. The heady smells of wine and cooking meat wafts around him. At the front of the crowd is a man in rich finery, laughing with all the rest. The air is alight with joy and the sounds of bells.Â
But most importantly of all is his boyfriend, glowing with health, covered in flowers and smiling.Â
