TTTHTM Chapter 8 should be on its way to be finished!
When the pair had confessed everything that afflicted them, when they confessed to the skeletons they hade previously only reserved for the closet. The honesty lifting the anxiety from both of them. In a way they could go to bed feeling as if nothing could get between them. Both earning the peace they were seeking.
Except, Xisuma still had trouble sleeping. His fear had found a comfortable place in his stomach and refused to leave, no matter how much he tried to lift it. The young man had discussed his known fears and anxieties. He had opened up about the things that bothered him and had heard his lover's past multipe times.
And yet, here he was. Still awake at night. Trying to go back to sleep as his husban slept peacefully. But no matter how heavy his eyes felt, he was kept awake by his body, by his mind. Nightmares would occurr if he managed to fall asleep for more than a few minutes. Something in his soul was screaming,, and he needed to find the reason why. There was no way he could keep pretending his lack of sleep was normal.
He recognized the anxiety he was feeling, yet he idn't recognize the why. He felt pretty similar to when his brother would get a devious plan in mind. Whenever his other half would scare him or chase him down. When they were kids it felt more like an excitement, as something that showed they were going to start some sort of play, and when they became older, it was intimidating, fearful. It became something to dread.
Xisuma could see his current anxiety be something similar, some sort of premonition of what could happen if his brother went unchecked. Not that it would be a smart idea, not that Xisuma actually belived EX was capable of doing that. Not when Xisuma had gotten so close to his happy ending.
The night reflected Xisuma's afflicted state, the clouds covering the moon and the sea angerly crashing in the castle walls. It didn't really helped to calm Xisuma down. But it did pushed him to stand up and go to the librabry. All he needed was to tire his brain. Once that happened he'd sleep soundly once more. Or at least he hoped that was the case.
Before leaving Xisuma looked over Keralis once more, making sure there was no way the man would wake up in what, hopefully, would be a short absence. There were some wards as he made his way to the space.
"We are safe." The young royal reminded himself as he made his way down the corridor.
Not before a wiff of spice entered his sistem. It was almost melancholic. He recognized that scent. In a way it felt homely, as a childhood memory. It couldn't be, right? Any soldier in the castle would've noticed a strange unrecognizable man, right?
"Right." Xisuma tought outloud. Some scents could be pretty similar. There was no point of accusing an innocent man or to act as if he had recognized an enemy.
Once he was finally in the library Xisuma made his best attempt to forget the scent that he had just smelled. There was no way it was what he was thinking. Still his mind wouldn't stop raceing. Not until he picked up an old book on strategy and war. Not until his mind felt ready to fight against whomever threatened his Kingdom or his husband. Not until he was sure they would forever be safe.
There was no way it was an enderian, right? Staff hardly liked his brother, no one would be spying for him. As well as such mole attitudes were looked down upon. If an enderian was planing to attack, they'd first have to inform their enemy, after that it was all free game, and so far, not Xisuma or Keralis had been informed of a plan to attack them or their new home.
