Currently thinking of Sam and his favorite room in the MoL bunker. Just a few doors down from the showers, and heâs a little surprised that Dean hasnât found it yet but then Deanâs kind of in love with the strong water pressure and having a real kitchen. And the weapons room, but Samâs been having quiet raptures over the library so he canât really judge.
Samâs favorite room in the bunker is the room with the bathtub that is amazingly deep and long enough for him to stretch out completely. The back is perfectly sloped to rest against, the bottom is just textured enough that he doesnât slip down unless he wants to, and the hot water miraculously doesnât run out when he fills the tub for the first time.
He hasnât been fully immersed in a bath since he was a kid and outgrew motel tubs, and maybe thatâs why Sam finds himself sneaking a bottle of bubble bath into their groceries, manages to hide it in his jacket and pours a generous amount into the running water the next time he has a chance to fill the bath. Heâd been hurried, didnât want Dean to know, and grabbed the wrong sort - this one is very much for kids, pink and smells like bubblegum, but Sam canât bring himself to care as he watches mountains of white frothy bubbles fill the tub. He gets in before the bubbles overflow, his body making the water rise almost to the rim.
The water is hot, almost painful, the light is dim, and the room fills with fragrant steam. Sam leans back in the tub, feels the water lapping at his chin, sees the bubbles towering around him and itâs the most natural thing in the world to close his eyes, slip into a half doze as the heat pulls the tension out of him for the first time in ages, knots heâd almost forgotten melting out of his muscles.
Currently thinking of Dean and heâs just finished making a truly epic dinner for Sam (and himself, but mostly for Sam) in the real actual kitchen they have now, so he needs to find Sam and make sure he eats at least some of it. He checks the library first - 90% chance of finding Sam there - but itâs empty, so he moves on. Weapons room, because Sam sometimes goes through and catalogues a bit of it when heâs in the mood. Garage, because sometimes he finds Sam reading in the Impala, although Sam tends to go red and scramble out of the car and refuse to talk about it, not that Dean needs him to talk about it, already understands that as wonderful as the bunker is itâs not home, not really, and Sam has a harder time with that than Dean does because at least Dean got four years in a house-type home and can kind of remember what it was like.
Heâs checking the showers when he smells a sort of artificial sweetness coming from behind one of the closed doors along the hall, and he doesnât think twice before opening the door, a rush of steam enveloping him. And there, thereâs Sam, sitting up abruptly in a tub that clearly was once filled with bubbles but the soap has all but melted into the waters, leaves a few floating rafts obscuring his view and Dean canât help thinking thatâs a damn shame.
A draft from the hall brushes over him, raising goosebumps in the sudden chill, and Dean sees Sam shiver as it reaches him so he steps into the room, closes the door behind him to seal in the warmth from Samâs bath.
Heâs got dinner on the table, made from scratch lasagna with actual vegetables like eggplant and spinach because itâll make Sam happy and a crazy amount of cheese because itâll make Dean happy, and dinner is hot and perfect now⌠but Sam is hot and perfect in his bath, and dinner will reheat.
âLooks like a nice tub, Sammy,â Dean says, feels himself grin and sees a shy answering smile bloom on Samâs face. âThink thereâs room for two?â
Currently thinking of Sam and Dean, freshly washed and squeaky clean, and Sam takes one bite of his lasagna and declares it the second best thing heâs ever tasted.
Dean grumbles a bit until Sam leans over and smacks his shoulder.
âThe very best thing is you, dumbass.â
