       ❝ charlie ?! ❞ dana’s face lights up when she spots her baby brother. she laughs when he scoops her into his arms, returning the embrace. ❝ GOD, i am so happy to see you. ❞

       dana’s SURPRISED by the invitation, not because she doesn’t think it his style, but rather that he’s willing to take her out for her birthday. it’s a somewhat serious step in a relationship, and she’s touched he’s making the commitment. ❝ i... that sounds amazing, ❞ she said, a smile flickering across her lips, ❝ THANK YOU, walter. ❞

       scully smiles, fisting her hand in his shirt and pulling him in for a kiss. ❝ mmm...i think you’re enough CELEBRATION as it is, the bourbon will just make it more fun. ❞

       ❝ monica, ❞ she murmurs, tears in her eyes as she gently puts the gift down and hugs her friend tightly. she can still see the image burned into her brain: ANOTHER person taken from her, another person lost. she’d once compared monica to melissa, but that was hardly where she wanted the comparison to lead. ❝ i’m sure i’ll love the gift, but...having you here ? that’s already MORE than i could have ever asked for. ❞

       ❝ tannis... ❞ it still brings tears to her eyes, every time she does it. how often had she fantasized about having a child to make her cards for her birthday ? and HERE SHE IS. she tugs the redhead in for a hug, cradling the back of her head despite the fact tannis is a good six inches taller at this point. ❝ MY MIRACLE GIRL, ❞ she murmurs, ❝ thank you. ❞

       she’s slightly OVERWHELMED, if she’s honest. stella doesn’t necessarily know the angst she and her lack of nameplate have had over the years. it’s not something she talks about, not wanting to be seen as a complainer, forever trying to avoid being ‘one of those girls’. but seeing her name and her title ( her title ! ) emblazoned across the plaque, it actually brings tears to her eyes. ❝ THANK YOU, STELLA, ❞ she chokes out, and in an action that surprises even her, she nearly lunges forward and hugs the blonde tightly. ❝ really, thank you. ❞
