I think all live-action directors should have at least some experience with animation because the reason why Project Hail Mary is so visually stunning made so much sense when you find out that both of the directors have also written/directed some of the biggest animated movies of the last decade (Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, The Lego Movie, the Spiderverse movies etc.) like those are people who fundamentally understand visual media. Fuck Christopher “I need to stop filming because a rainbow got into my shot” Nolan I need more directors who know how colours work.

Going to a talk with a panel of queer librarians and archivists today. Going to make very big, wet eyes at the head archivist and ask if she needs volunteers to help sort the backlog of queer history materials that I have been told exists at the local museum.

people will say “they’re only friends” and then show me two people who would crawl through broken glass to hear the other laugh once. two people who have memorized each other’s coffee orders, fears, childhood stories, and emergency contacts. two people who would haunt each other’s houses as ghosts. be serious.

Just an FYI—the original intention of this post was to challenge the way people say only friends, as though friendship is somehow lesser than other forms of love. As if being deeply known, cherished, and chosen by another person could ever be a small thing. Normalize profound platonic love. Some of the most fulfilling, transformative, and enduring relationships we will ever have are friendships. 🫶🏼

If someone tries to tell me that my love for my friends is less important than my love for my partners, I will physically fight them. I would hide a body without asking questions for some of my friends. My friends have seen me at my worst and stuck with me when some of my partners didn't. I love my friends with my whole heart and that love is just as real and important as any other love I have short of my love for my son.
