out of sheer nosy curiosity, what are you hoping to get out of finding the fic author who orphaned their stuff? having been a writer who's orphaned fics to cut ties with particular fandoms bc of how i'd been treated, i do want to gently ask that you take care not to overstep this writers boundaries. obvs i can't speak for everyone and have no clue what your aim is (presumably nothing nefarious!!!) but just to flag that they may have reasons for not wanting to be found
that’s a really fair point, thank you for saying it kindly. honestly i’m not trying to track them down or cross any boundaries, I just really loved their writing and was hoping they might have other works out there under a different name. it’s more about finding more of their stories than finding them as a person but i do understand how this might come across, especially since i don’t know the reasons why they chose to orphan their fics. i’ll be mindful of that and keep those boundaries in mind going forward!

hi, this might be a long shot but i’m kind of desperate at this point
i’ve been trying to find an ao3 author whose works got orphaned, and i can’t stop thinking about their fics. their username used to be widoghasts (the only thing I could find on the way back machine) and some of their works were "in for a penny", " scenes on emotional connection", and "and i was looking (for you)" which all belonged to a collection called "someday, oneday"
it was for Six of Crows and it was basically a full rewrite of the books, mostly centered on jesper and kaz's relationship. it meant a lot to me and i keep going back to it, but there’s no trace of the author anywhere that i can find
I’ve been trying to find any trace of the author (tumblr, twitter, new AO3 account, anything), but no luck so far. I’d really love to know if they’re still writing somewhere or if their work exists under a different name.
i know it’s probably nothing, but i’d really appreciate any help. i just don’t want this to be one of those things that disappears completely
