PATXI’S PIZZA

Dublin, CA – Squirrel recently implemented a QSR Automations kitchen display system at Patxi’s Pizza. Dianne Marcotte, our National Account Executive, was lucky enough to be at the Dublin location for their soft live and she shared a few pictures with us.  

The Dublin site is located across from a busy complex so the kitchen video solution should help in getting orders to the table accurately and in a timely manner during this holiday season.

Patxi’s offers deep dish and thin crust specialties such as the deep dish Matt Cain with Pepperoni and all natural garlic-fennel sausage or the thin crust Prosciutto & Arugula. If those don’t cover your preferences, then why not build your own pizza! Pick your crust then choose from 11 different meats, 7 cheeses, and 20 vegetable toppings.

THE BENNETT CRAFT AND KITCHEN

Surrey, BC – This Squirrel POS customer recently transitioned from the Tudor Ale House to The Bennett Craft and Kitchen, keeping the charm of the previous restaurant, but also bringing a downtown urban feel to the space and menu.

Visit The Bennet for a cocktail on the largest patio in the neighbourhood and try some delicious sharing plates like the Tiger Prawn Sizzle, Braised Beef Stuffed Yorkshire Pudding or classic wings in 9 different flavors. Bring your whole crew for brunch, lunch or an early dinner because they are family friendly until 8pm! If you plan on staying for more fun or want to take in the live music on event nights, make sure to ask about their free local shuttle to help you get home safe.

FAMOSO NEOPOLITAN PIZZERIA

Various Locations –This Squirrel POS fast casual concept, with multiple locations throughout Canada, offers a true pizzeria experience. The hand stretched and tossed pizza dough is made with Caputo 00’ flour imported from Italy for a soft and crispy crust. The authenticity doesn’t stop there with tomatoes brought in from Campania and pizzas cooked to 900 degrees F for 90 seconds in an authentic bell oven.

You won’t regret ordering a classic Margherita pizza made with Fior-di-latte, fresh basil, pecorino romano, and extra virgin olive oil. For something a bit different, try the Cavoletti, which features oven-roasted brussel sprouts, prosciutto crisps, gorgonzola cheese, dates, walnuts, and a drizzle of honey.

It’s summer, so why not end your meal with a scoop of one of their delicious gelatos? You can’t go wrong with flavors such as salted caramel or Madagascar Vanilla bean.

Austin, TX – This neighborhood delight offers rustic Northern Italian food and a friendly atmosphere. If you are looking for an amazingly rich Risotto, then look no further because Tarvera uses only Carnaroli rice for their flagship risotto dish. The risotto al parmigiano all’ olio tartufato is outstanding and pairs well with the beer carpaccio served with shaved parmesan, country mustard, lemon, truffle oil & capers.

This is an excellent local’s spot for weekend brunch…you can’t beat $2 dollar Mimosas and Bellinis. These bevvies go well with the Taverna frittata, the chef’s own egg creation baked in a stone oven.

WILLIAMS LANDING

Toronto, ON – This stylish Squirrel POS customer is located in the equally trendy and redesigned Liberty Village, attracting vibrant young professionals who live and work in the urban core.

Chef Beman Chan adopts the concept of FLOSS (Fresh, Local, Organic, Sustainable and Seasonal) with the casual fine dining and globally inspired style menu. With 16 beers on tap, 35 wines by the glass and 10 hand crafted cocktails, this drink list will satisfy anyone.

Our Marketing Director recently finished off a fun day at the Mac ‘n Cheese Festival across the street by stopping in for a cocktail and to take in the good tunes and lively atmosphere. She shared with friends the Taro Cheesecake, which was salted caramel gooey goodness and they said the Chocolate Dim Sum was an unexpected delight. Next time they’re in the village, they’ll try the neighborhood favorite Fish tacos.  

Now that it’s patio season, we expect this spot will have a line up every night so get there early and why not stay late?

Denver, Colorado - New Squirrel Systems customer NATIV Hotel, located in the heart of Denver, has something for everyone. Offering four different venues for food and drink right at your fingertips, you might not have any reason to leave the hotel.  

Portions, their on-site bar & restaurant is equipped with multiple TVs, beautiful wood décor and a unique 20-tap self-pour craft beer wall as well as a great craft wine and cocktail selection. PILGRIM AND PEARL OYSTER BAR

Kelowna, BC – Kelowna welcomes, new Squirrel Systems site and the area’s first oyster bar, Pilgrim and Pearl in the Prestige Inn across from the Okanagan Lake. Named after the ‘Pilgrim Pearl,’ a rare pearl with a 500-year storied history that was famed for being given to Elizabeth Taylor by her then-husband Richard Burton for Valentine’s Day. The décor mirrors the beautiful pearl with its light wood and granite accented space.

The menu at Pilgrim and Pearl features ten varieties of oysters from Canada and around the world, giving experienced oyster eaters a great variety to choose from as well as providing some small or light flavored options for any first timers! They also offer a great selection of seafood, including lobster caught by good friends of the restaurant and fisher couple, Angus and Darlene. Pilgrim and Pearl is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner! We recommend stopping in for breakfast and trying their crab eggs benny or their Seafood Frittata, which is mixed seafood, fresh herbs, onions, potato latke on top of fresh arugula. RADISSON PLAZA HOTEL

Kalamazoo, Michigan – New Squirrel Systems customer, Radisson Plaza Hotel in Kalamazoo is quite outstanding with three on-site restaurants that cater to everyone’s taste: Zazio’s, Webster’s Prime Steakhouse, and the Old Burdick’s Bar & Grill.  

Zazio’s has a great reputation for their delicious Italian cuisine and offers a very unique dining experience, The Chef’s Table. The Chef’s Table is an intimate, interactive five-course dinner with wine pairings where you watch Chef John Korycki create his masterpiece! Every month brings a different Chef Table theme, with March inspired by Friuli, an area of Northeast Italy.

Tucked away on the second floor of the Radisson, you will find Webster’s Prime Steakhouse. Webster’s is a perfect place to celebrate something special with its intimate décor, great service and impressive menu. To start, their shellfish bisque with cold water lobster and jumbo crab is not to be missed. The entire menu gives you so many great options, from seafood to duck to a great selection of steaks. Stop by Webster’s for a memorable meal.

If you are staying at the Radisson and looking for somewhere to watch the game, look no further and head down to The Old Burdick’s Bar & Grill. They are known for their great breakfast selection, with all your favorites, including omelets, bennies and a buffet with a full fresh-made pancakes and waffle bar!

RODNEY'S OYSTER HOUSE

Calgary, Alberta – Oysters anyone? Rodney's, Canada’s great oyster house, has opened its doors in Calgary and patrons cannot wait to have a taste! The restaurant is just awe-inspiring with its open concept, high ceilings and beautiful wood décor. It is always a pleasure dining at Rodney’s, with their fun atmosphere, friendly staff, and of course their huge array of fresh seafood.

Their “What’s the Catch” menu is packed and new items are being added daily! If you are a chowder fan, Rodney’s has you covered with their classic smooth and creamy New England Clam, the Manhattan, as well as a veggie option, Corn Chowder. Try their Steamed Mussels that arrive swimming in the tastiest butter and garlic sauce you might ever taste (you’ll want to eat it with a spoon, but luckily they bring some bread to soak it up!).

Rodney’s is a great place to bring a few friends, as items on the menu can be turned into sharing plates or even a platter. Pick from their smoked fish menu, which includes smoked salmon, candied salmon or cold smoked tuna or try something from the cold menu, like adding a turf to your surf with bison tartar.

A unique aspect of this Rodney’s location is the Bait and Tackle counter, where you can have a quick bite or take your favorite seafood dishes to go!

Last but definitely not least and what gave this Squirrel Systems customer part of its name is the oysters, so stop by to see what is in season. You can eat them on the half shell or pan fried with all your favorite fixings. Try to get a seat by the kitchen to see the chefs in shucking action!

HY’S STEAKHOUSE AND COCKTAIL BAR

Calgary, Alberta – Hy’s Steakhouse and Cocktail Bar is back in Calgary and looks fantastic! Renovations are done and the new location is stunning with dark wood décor, beautiful furnishing and an open kitchen concept where you can view your steak being cooked to perfection.

There are many classic appetizers at Hy’s, but one of the showstoppers is their tableside Caesar salad, which you can guess, is made right at your table. When ordered, a waiter brings a side cart with all the fixings and whips up the dressing from scratch for mixing with the rest of the ingredients in an enormous wooden bowl. Over the top? Maybe, but delicious! Another appetizer you cannot go without trying while visiting this Squirrel Systemscustomer is their legendary cheese bread – sounds simple, but you really won’t know the appeal until you take that first bite of the cheesy, garlicky goodness!

Hy’s is an old-school steakhouse and celebrating its 52nd anniversary this year, they have learned a thing or two about cooking a good steak. Many won’t visit without ordering the New York Strip, which is said to have given this restaurant a place in the steak hall of fame! Any steak you order comes with your choice of potato, but we recommend the double baked with your choice of green onions, sour cream or bacon on top.

You wouldn’t expect anything less than a superb experience when visiting this iconic steakhouse and this new Hy’s location doesn’t disappoint.

CINNAMON’S AT THE ILIKAI

Honolulu, Hawaii – The newly opened Cinnamon’s in the beautiful Aqua Ilikai Hotel & Suites at the edge of Waikiki is a favorite of locals. Residents warmly welcomed the news of the opening of a second Cinnamon’s location because they now have another place to indulge in their breakfast favorites and fresh seafood. This Squirrel Systems customer has a 12,000 square foot open-air dining space overlooking the water and is definitely a spot to check out when visiting Waikiki.

If you ask any of the locals, they will tell you that you have to try the famous guava chiffon or red velvet pancakes (it’s like eating birthday cake for breakfast). We also hear the crab cake and Kalua pork bennies are to die for!

Cinnamon’s offers an extensive lunch menu with all the favorites. Order one of their sensational salads like the curried chicken and papaya, which includes half a papaya filled with homemade curried chicken salad. Or try an ‘established favorite’ that first appeared on their menu in 1985. We’d go for Cinnamon’s steak salad with its roasted prime rib over tossed greens.

GRADUATE TEMPE – THE NORMAL DINER

Tempe, Arizona – Stop in The Normal Diner, an addition to the new boutique hotel chain, Graduate Hotels, for a friendly dining experience with a 60’s diner feel. Even though the Normal Diner is new, it has caused quite the buzz around town even from people not staying at the hotel.

Start your morning off right with one of The Normal Diner’s many breakfast options. The traditional buttermilk short stack covered in warm true maple syrup is always a yummy choice. Same goes for the chicken and waffles featuring red velvet waffles and crispy free range chicken. Try their hash, which is anything but the norm with braised beef short rib, roasted potatoes, and guajillo chile sauce topped with two local poached Hickman’s Farm eggs.

The Normal Diner also offers an afternoon menu with all the favorites. In the mood for something that will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Try their Afterschool Special, which is a classic with a twist: BBQ Brisket Havarti and Cheddar Grilled Cheese with tomato soup. They offer two burgers, The Graduate Burger with two Angus patties or the Bison Burger with spicy hatch chili and smoked mozzarella. Both will hit the spot!

Finally, no 60’s diner would be complete without a thick shake that comes in many flavors (just ask Flo) and the scent of handmade seasonal pies wafting from the kitchen. So, if you’re in the mood for some old-fashioned food and hospitality, stop by this newly opened Squirrel Systems customer today!

LAS CASUELAS QUINTA

La Quinta, California – Among the many Mexican restaurants in Palm desert, Las Casuelas Quinta, a family owned chain, stands out and impresses all who walk through its beautifully crafted front gates. The architecture and interior is something to see with water features, clay tiled roofing, exposed ceiling and three calming fire places. The staff is vibrantly dressed and always warmly welcoming while serving authentic Mexican cuisine or one of their signature margaritas.

Right when you are seated, yummy homemade chips and fresh salsa hit the table, giving you something to munch on while deciding what to have on the extensive menu. To start, you can’t visit a Mexican restaurant without trying their take on Tortilla soup, which at Las Casuelas Quinta is made with chicken and veggies in a spicy lime broth garnished with avocado and corn chips. Another tasty starter to try and a nice alternative to traditional poppers are their jalapeno skins. For the main, we suggest satisfying your Mexican fix with the “Combinaciones Mexicanas”, which is a combo meal served with rice and refried beans and your choice of one, two or three items, including enchiladas, tacos, burritos and more!

Another thing you can’t go without while visiting any Mexican restaurant is the margarita! At this Squirrel Systems site, they are known for HUGE and tasty margaritas in many flavours and served with high-end tequila. We suggest the Cantina Quinta's Fruit Margaritas, blended with strawberries, mangos, peaches, raspberries, bananas and melon. Yum!

If you are booking a party, going out with friends or just want to sit and have a cold one while listening to some good ol’ mariachi music, Las Casuelas Quinta is the place to go!

WINGS STADIUM

Kalamazoo, Michigan – Wings Stadium, the most recent stadium addition to the Squirrel Systems family has something for everyone. It is the home of the Kalamazoo Wings where fans from all over the state come to watch ECHL hockey, as well as music concerts (Elton John just played there!) and various events including open family skates and the upcoming first annual Kalamazoo Craft Beer Festival starting tomorrow on Saturday, November 1st.

Wing’s Stadium doesn't just have awesome events and activities, but it also has an amazing variety of food and beverage options. For those hockey fans out there, you can grab an ice-cold beer (the great thing about ice arenas is that the beer stays that way!) from several vendors carrying both macro and craft beer like the local Arcadia Ale. An order of wings would be an obvious choice with a huge variety of sauces including BBQ, Tangy BBQ, Medium, Hot Buffalo, and Sweet Chili for only $6!

Looking for something different while watching your favorite team or catching a show? Wing’s offers BBQ at the Austin Blues BBQ concession where you can order pulled pork, smoked brisket and bratwurst...or visit the Caramba Cantina for burritos, loaded nachos, and taco salad! 

Last but not least, don’t forget to swing by The Underground Sports Bar that can be found between sections 2 and 3. This bar is a hot spot during intermissions to talk hockey and get in that between period beer!

DEANO’S GRILL & TAPWORKS

Wichita, Kansas – Squirrel is ecstatic to feature another great customer using one of our restaurant POS systems, Deano’s Grill & Tapworks. Beer, great atmosphere, friendly service, and sports constantly playing on 23 flat screen TVs….need we say more? Deano’s Grill & Tapworks is a neighborhood favorite to hang with buddies, go on date night, or to spend Sunday funday watching your NFL team. The décor is quite elegant for a sports bar, with clean lines, real brick, and sports memorabilia on the walls. The best thing? There isn’t a bad seat in the house for watching one of their many TVs.

When you sit down and take a look at Deano’s menu, you will soon realize that this isn’t your average sports bar fare. Start off with the cheesy goodness of their Queso, served with either pretzels or homemade tortilla chips. Or if you’re sharing with friends, grab an order of their wings, which are HUGE and cooked perfectly. And hey, why not add a side of their mouthwatering mac and cheese?

For the main event, one of their artisan pizzas would be great to share or devour the BBQ Haystack cheeseburger with shoestring fried onions, cheddar cheese and BBQ sauce! Wash it all down with an ice-cold beer from one of their 23 taps.

Stop in Deano’s for one of their many daily specials that include $3 pints, $15 pitchers, and for the non-beer drinkers, half price martinis and “perfect margaritas!”

CRAFT BEER MARKET

Vancouver, BC – Opening just under a year ago, Squirrel Systems customer Craft Beer Market boasts Canada’s largest selection of draft beer. Situated in the beautiful Olympic Village, Craft is housed in the Salt Building, which was built in 1930. The building’s transformation is stunning, featuring high ceilings, wood features, and a rustic feel throughout. Craft’s central island bar is surrounded by many seats and has 140 tap lines housed in 2 towers. With beer and ciders from around the world, you are guaranteed to find your favorite!

Aside from the amazing selection of beer and cider, Craft also has a great menu with everything from burgers, pastas, and being just steps from the water, a great selection of seafood. If you’re stopping in Craft for a bite and a beer (or two) with friends, we recommend the Nacho Barrel, which has nachos smothered in a mixture of cheddar cheese, jalapenos and diced up tomato and peppers...and yes, it actually comes in a barrel! In the mood for something lighter? The Lobster Salsa is to die for with Ocean Wise lobster, shrimp, avocado, and pico de gallo served with warm corn tortilla chips.

Our next recommendation is not for the faint of heart. If you are really in the mood for a burger (and we mean really), order the 20 Napkin Burger that features two 8oz burger patties, a 4oz brisket, crispy bacon and cheese sauce, and wait for it…garnished with a mini burger!

After you take your last sip of beer and say goodbye to your new friends at Craft, we suggest you take a stroll down Vancouver’s gorgeous sea wall to take in the city and digest that massive burger you just ate!

BIG SKY RESORT

Big Sky, Montana – In the heart of Big Sky country, experience a golf course like no other. Designed in the early 1970s, Squirrel Systems customer Big Sky Resort has a golf course standing 6,500 feet above sea level that offers endless greens and remarkable views. From just about every hole you are able to see the beautiful snowcapped local mountain Lone Peak while listening to the rushing stream that weaves through the course.

When you’re done your 18 holes, stop at the Bunker Bar & Grill and dine on their outdoor patio overlooking Big Sky’s meadow! Open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks, the Bunker Bar & Grill offers a varied menu with special offers throughout the week. We recommend their Fried Boneless Wings to start with their signature huckleberry BBQ sauce, served with cilantro jalapeno ranch. The Bunker Burger with certified Angus beef and your choice of cheddar, Swiss, pepper jack or American on a black pepper parmesan Kaiser roll is also a great choice! Bringing the kids? Nathan’s legendary all-beef hot dog will definitely be a hit!
