He offered her a tiny smile before continuing to scratch away at the stack of papers in front of him. One form just to say everything was okay day after day. Another on each of his squad members. Maybe that’s why he kept the squad small - too much paper work every day. More to evaluate the status of other squad leaders and their efficiency.
He took a sip from his tea, glancing up at her when she asked how long he had been at this.
“When did I clock in?” Levi focused in on the clock on his desk, his face going dark as he scowled. “A few hours now. Got up to do rounds once or twice and came back here. Though the good news is that if I finish this today, we’re done until next week.”
“At least you’ve managed to walk around this time...”
There had been one occasion where Levi’s legs had gotten particularly stiff from being sat down for so long, hunched over his desk just signing papers. He had clearly learned from that which was something. He could be stubborn at times, yet she was often behind him to soften the edges a little. Only a little though; it was still amusing how scared of him the new recruits were.
“Well i’ve finished what I had to do for now, so i’ll stay here and we can get this done even faster and then forget paperwork exists for another week.”
It hadn’t been the first time she had helped him with it and she was sure it wouldn’t be the last. Paperwork was laborious and boring, and if Petra was him then she’d want help with it too just to lighten the load.
“Who thought all this was a good idea clearly needs to question their priorities.”
