i think the music was kinda hit or miss tbh but i think the show really shines in the writing and performances. i said already that bryce was fucking amazing, but curt, jeff and angela were other highlights for me.

i think the scenes between ella and tadius were my fav parts. they had such a good dynamic and its where the writing really was at its peak.

for example: a love song in a musical. if you don't like the couple/think their storyline distracts from something you like more/think the story moment represented by the song isn't very good/etc, does that affect your opinion of the song? or do you judge the song entirely on its own merits - will you like a good love song even if you don't care for the couple? or vice versa?

this can go for any kind of story moment/theme/character beat/etc represented by a song, I just thought love song was a succinct example
