While at the Mechanical Tempest (community bikecoop) in Wellington to replace my front and back breaks, I meet a fellow cyclehead. It was wonderful to meet a female mechanic from the states who volunteers helping cyclist build and repair bicycles from parts in the shop.

In 2012, I met Julie "Jools via a mutual friend while backpacking Australia.

I returned in 2016 to bike tour Tasmania and stayed with Jools in Melbourne. She took me to her favorite restaurants and cafes, bike around Fitzroy and visit Lentil As Anything in Abbotsford.

Julie often communtes to work because it's faster and cheaper than taking public transport.

Furthermore, she's an amazing photogrpher and adventurer!

I met Lindy and her sister in Richmond where they gave me notes on must-dos in Hobart. I met Lindy again at the Saturday Salamanca Market where I found a water painting of three women on bicycle.

I can't forget to thank the road moms during the Great East Drive, Tasmania. I met Pip via warmshowers in Saint Helens where she provided campground, fresh grown fruits and vegetables from her garden and delicious ice cream. She and neighbor took me bush walking in Hall Falls trail in Pyengana and had lunch at The Pyengana Dairy Company.

She is too a #biketourist!

Lisa London, United Kingdom

Lisa and Stefan have bike toured for 10 months from London to Tasmania. We met in Hobart, Tasmania via a warmshowers host.

It was wonderful to reunite with them in Nelson, New Zealand after we shared a warmshowers host with in Hobart, Tasmania. We caught each other up on our bike tours over lunch and drinks at The Free House!

Tamra was my couchsurfing host who celebrated my birthday with a 30 miles group bike ride with roadies and eating Hawaiian donuts!!

We spent the last day in Hawaii having delicious coffee, ice cream in January, visiting summer Santa Land and having drinks in Chinatown.

Jane is a solo cyclist from Melbourne, Australia bike touring for over 2 years. She is raising awareness of melanoma (a type of skin cancer), a disease that impacts on every person that enjoys sports and the great outdoors. We met in Hobart, Tasmania.

Hazel Strahan, Tasmania

Hazel is from UK but move to Strahan, Tasmania to travel and work as a local bicycle tour guide. It was wonderful of her to became a tourist with me. We went to the Saw Mills, attend the play The Ship That Never Was and bike to Ocean Beach to watch the sunset.

The Ship That Never Was is the longest running play for 20 years in all of Australia and I highly recommend attending the show!!!

Hazel was an amazing host!

Sage Alaska

Sage is a solo female bike tourist from USA (Alaska), spotted me on the road and we began chatting. We camped together at Lake Hāwea, New Zealand hiding from the wet west coast. We had a wonderful chat and large pizza for dinner at Sailz.

France

Family [mom, dad, 2 sons] from France, bike touring New Zealand (North/South Island) and Tasmania, Australia as a whole for the first time. The oldest helps carry his and brother's gear, Dad uses a rope tied around the seat post to help the youngest son up hills and Mom powers the team and keeps her family safe on/off road!! I can't forget, Dad is a fisherman who shared his catch with me for dinner. What a wonderful unit!
