YEAH!! i love it so much. i finished rereading this week and it was just as delightful after multiple years. i also loved re-experiencing just how excellent the pangs are; in my own fantasy world where i get to teach an academic course on pangs, this would be top of the assigned reading list. i want to cup elliot schafer in my hands and also study him like a weird and fascinating bug. maybe bat him around the floor a bit like my cats when they get ahold of my earbuds. i so rarely get to read a book that hones in on a character’s loneliness and self-worth like that, and even more rarely get to read that in the middle of a hilarious and compelling and meta-tropey story. plus, i love when characters are allowed to be truly and freely no-holds-barred Annoying.

(i also recently found the short story [+part 2] set a few years in the future and now i’m desperately hoping for a whole sequel. but also very happy and satisfied with what we already have. it’s a good place to be.)
