i really think you should respect people's preferences to be called whatever they want, even if they're clearly giving you a name that isn't one they otherwise prefer. i do not like to hear my name butchered and i prefer giving you an alternative name you won't. i do not want to help you learn to say my legal name. its not worth it if we're not close to sound it out. i do not owe you hindustani phonology lessons. its an unnecessary and regular source of friction in my life, and it can be alienating especially because it is a site for random racist microaggessions. just respect people's stated preferences instead of inferring them.

Ugly Duckling sequel where the swan is like hey it's nobody's fault and I don't think anyone did anything wrong per se but nonetheless I did feel really alienated and depressed for most of my youth and those years do continue to affect me in the present day and their mom is like, so what you're saying is that you think I'm a failure and a bad duck.
