I was going to make a little post about the timeline of things moving forward, but this seems like as good as time as any to bring it up. So, I think I’ve reached a nexus point with the current chapter to where it will be beneficial to post the first chapter of Charlie’s pov before I add the next sweet, ripe update. There’s just some themes that kind of cross paths, y’know? I think one will enhance the other.

I believe current Charlie’s pov draft is at 4k words, so going to be putting in effort to finish that first and then get back to sweet, ripe!

I love the way how all pieces of this chapter are very different. I love how fluid the beginning of chapter is going from the previous chapter. I love the playful after nap Charles and embraced pink max, I love the cozy sweet sour meeting with family 

(Also, I got headcanon for Charles texting in a twitch chat asking if this beautiful man in Red Bull shirt have an only fans 😂)

Ooohh that’s an amazing headcanon 😆 Charles’ version of flirting is the ‘do you come here often’ but on steroids 😂 he’s just out to cause mayhem and see what Max will do because that’s kind of the fabulous thing; he’s got no idea how he’ll react! I love this phase—they get to learn all of those little details about each other.

Charles is about to be the thing Red Bull has to have the most meetings about.

This is an excellent point! Because that vanilla is so important to him, he does not give that out freely (or really at all). He’s very protective of it. Even in his previous relationships, they were lucky if Charles allowed like scent exchanges on the wrists or forearms. He’s never been big on giving that much of something so precious to him away.

Max however…geez, first it’s a slow realization (this will be more prevalent in Charles’ pov) of how much Max’s scent also smells like home to him; the sea and the track. He’s known that scent a long time, but hasn’t lingered on it as anything special and Max is more conscientious than most alphas; he uses blockers the majority of the time. But when they start becoming closer, when that scent is all around, he can’t deny that it makes him feel safe, that it eases him to sleep when he’s been unable to close his eyes for weeks.

Vanilla will always be a key part of him and where he finds comfort, but I think he is and will continue to learn a lot from how much he prefers to be mixed up in Max’s scent, how stabilizing he finds it.

Then comes the awareness that he wants to give his scent, he wants it shared. That comes a little bit after and will be a continuing deepening to their relationship. It’s a growing intensity, how Charles is wanting to scent mark Max all the time 😂 he’s going to take every excuse to do so.

I do eventually plan to have some time in sweet, ripe where they are apart (geographically) and that will be difficult on both of them. I think it will surprise Charles how much he dislikes being so far away and when they come back together, I imagine him whining petulantly and low-level panicking as he realizes that Max only sort of smells like him. (This would not be nearly a concern if they were properly mated because that would blend their scents in a more permanent fashion)

Here’s another brief aside about scents: It’s a bit of growth for Charles to realize that Max can feel so confidently angry or upset. People have found Max’s scent off putting because he allows himself his own emotions so freely. This is in direct contrast to Charles who has tried to repress so much of his anger and messy emotions for the sake of appearances and trying to keep the peace. But he appreciates Max’s scent the way it is, all the rocky edges of it, the way it can turn and crest just like waves. Charles actually finds it quite beautiful. He’s just gotta learn to appreciate that in himself and to grant himself that same freedom.

I saw you were looking for suggestions for your landoscar fic and 2 things came to mind if either of them works for you?

Competency kink! I think we’ve seen it a few times for something Oscar’s done, but I’d live to see Lando just really being a BAMF at something (maybe something brand or SM related? He seems very savvy at personal branding irl tbh) and then coming back to Oscar and just melting in his arms. A safe port from the storm that lives in his head, y’know?

Kinda, sorta related., but Lando’s vogue photoshoot blew my mind because it played with gender concepts/androgyny (and it was just hot!). Would love to maybe see something similar and Oscar’s reaction if you’re interested!

Also maybe a secret third thing: Oscar being jealous in fun way. Not like the crap with Carlos but the fun, normal jealousy. Maybe based off SM reaction to the photoshoot above?

Totally feel free to disregard literally everything if it doesn’t scratch your itch. Also, as a total side note, love the worldbuilding you’ve got going on with alphas. It’s fascinating and shows the thought that’s gone into this. I love your fics and thank you for sharing your writing!

Omggg you speak my language, competency kink is one of my absolute favs! Will definitely be utilizing this 🥰🫶🏻 I plan on having a bit of a switch up where Lando gets to be the one providing some stability and comfort for a change (he’s got that internalized belief that he’s not good at being someone’s partner, so this will be fun to play with and should hopefully give him a bit more confidence)

The photoshoot is a good idea, I like that too! I can already think of some omega/alpha dynamic or second gendered layers to add to this as well!

Haha yeah I can also ponder ways for Oscar to be more normal levels of jealous or jealous over something that’s not a legit issue. I love writing jealous characters 😌
