Ranking the top 15 NPF players of the 2012 season to countdown to the Pro Fastpitch Playoffs

One of the most recognizable names in softball enters the list at #7 with Jessica Mendoza. Jessica entered the season late after doing TV work for the Women’s College World Series. While the official opening day was on June 7th, Mendoza’s opening day wasn’t until June 28th and even then she was worked back into the rotation slowly in the outfield. With the shortened season, she is not putting up the statistics fans have grown to expect from her. Through 26 games, she sits at just 3 home runs and 16 RBIs while batting .296. Far from her outstanding season last year where she batted .379 with 10 home runs and 35 RBIs.Â
Mendoza is one of the smartest players in the league however and is a very well rounded athlete. Terrific defense and good speed and awareness on the basepaths combine with the great bat. With Mendoza in the center of the dangerous Pride lineup, it makes the team very tough to beat.
