like 1) okay homo 2) this follows jay saying that they'll play the show - which Could be read as them finally achieving success once they finally perform at the rivoli, but it's just as easy to interpret it as jay saying they'll finally be free to live their lives after they've finally gotten this hurdle out of the way. it's been discussed before, but planning to play the rivoli is matt's entire lifestyle, whereas to jay it's the obstacle preventing them from proceeding with their lives outside of this singular goal.

crucially, though, we see that jay's intention isn't to play the rivoli and be done with matt and his shenanigans - he wants to have a life WITH matt, even outside of the rivoli plans. matt is obsessively clinging to a routine that, to him, defines their friendship, perhaps fearing that jay will move past him once they're no longer working toward this common objective. but that's not true of jay's thinking at all!! their rivoli planning is just a diversion from the life he wants to continue to lead - a life WITH matt.
