There's times where it feels like your hopes and dreams are simply slipping away from you. That the things you wanted to achieve are floating away from you in the sky while you lie there, fallen in a crater, your wing torn off, never to grow back. Bitterness grows, and you feel like you may never leave the ground again.

But.

That's not true.

just thinking about kris, i think there's a lot of ways their struggles can be interpreted as relating to disability. one example that seems particularly intentional is kris not being able to play the piano while under the soul's control and toby commenting about not being able to play the piano (among other things) due to pain.

In 2024, I actually developed wrist issues, and chapter 4 hit me like a truck with this theme. Especially since two months later, I got a bad flare up

It's mostly stable now, but I'm never really going to be free from it, probably. And as someone that loves making stuff, it's crushing to be limited in what you can do. The first four months of the injury were extremely soul crushing, I couldn't do much without pain. The pain itself was maddening too, but not being able to do things affected me way worse. It's probably not the same thing that Toby has, but it's close enough that it resonates a lot with me.

So seeing that scene in chapter 4, where one of the first things they do without the soul is playing piano, and then later with piano that may not be played that well, it hits very close. Those little moments without the pain, without what is limiting you, they're really precious, even if you can very easily over exert yourself and cause the pain to come back worse. I mean, Rudy himself shows that too. He's trying to make the most out of the moments where he feels ok enough to help Noelle, but it probably is what caused him to fall down at the festival.

We only hear it in the weird route, but Noelle has been feeling trapped, like her whole life is a facade and she's just going through the motions, since Dess went missing.

In the normal route, the resolution to this is that Susie teaches her how to think and act for herself. She becomes comfortable in her own life, and doesn't want to run away anymore. Like with Mew Mew, Noelle is reconciled with herself, and can live a happier, more self-actualized life within Hometown.

In the weird route, the resolution (if you can call it that) is just the opposite. Noelle runs away from her normal life. She leaves everything behind, and sends herself and Kris to the bottom of the lake, in an attempt to escape from the drudgery of her daily existence. Like Spamton, she tries to see too far. She cuts her strings.

It's my least favorite trope ever, it's such a lazy cop-out.

I believe in device theory, but the game itself is the window we use to view this world.

But if in a later chapter Susie turns to the camera and goes "wow our whole world is a fake simulation, that's crazyyyyy!!!!!" I'm going to lose it.

Here's something I never understood;

If Gaster created deltarune, then why are we waiting for "his" version of it? It's the implication that the deltarune we are seeing now, isn't what he wants. Why does he want to create a new future, and seemingly defy the prophecy?

I don't think he wrote the prophecy, even though it's "fortold across time and space", why would he create this whole master plan to change the outcome of the prophecy if he wrote it??

He's handing out shadow crystals to those who seek some kind of freedom, ImageFriend, who is heavily tied to random values, the fact that he doesn't intervene with either route.

This is an ice cream situation again. Ralsei must've taken Susie aside and asked for "something selfish". But instead of requesting Susie to buy ice cream for Kris, she asks her to make sure they have someone to ride the Ferris wheel with.

Ralsei is in the festival. She's in the festival through Kris when they buy Susie ice cream. She's in the festival through Susie when she rides the Ferris wheel with Kris.
