why didn't you tell me you were hurt? / rebecca to bucky
His body was no stranger to injuryâ  âââââ  the war against the axis and the experimentation he endured through HYDRA showed clearly across his barely aged skin. â  â  As the winter soldier? â  There was a reason government agents and citizens were afraid of the mere whisper of the title. â  â The soldier carried out assassinations unscathed majority of the time; â  though the occasional bullet scraped whatever exposed skin from time to time, nobody could take down the syndicateâs lethal weapon, nor could they outrun him. â  â They tried. â  â Hell, they did try. â  â Very few lived to tell their tale of facing the ghost story themselves.
Heâs no longer â winter soldat â; â  he forgets that sometimes.â  â Half expecting to wake up and find himself strapped down, the hiss of electricity voltage close to his templates and his commander repeating a string of wordsâ  âââââ  they hold no power over him anymoreâŚâ  it doesnât stop the dread spiking through him, or his heart from pounding against his chest. â  Bucky doesnât think heâll ever find a moment of reprieve for as long as he lives the rest of his days. â  â A consolation to all this was that it had lead him back to Steve. â  â Steve who then helped him find the familiar face of his sister. â  â The first time heâs woken up and felt a sense of â home. â
â Bec, itâs fineâ ââ  â The former sniper tries to assure for her sake. â  â His tone of voice isnât exactly reassuring, nor was the crimson soaking through the fabric of his shirt.â  â  Whoever shot him was an expert in their marksmanship â ââââ  he knew a sniper when he saw one. Recognised his own skill in it.â  â â Hit an artery, thatâs all. ââ  â Who were they? â  Not past winter soldiers; â  Bucky and Rebecca were the only two who remained of HYDRAâs program.â  â  Couldâve fooled him though.â  â Their strength and reflexes werenât human, that much he could be certain of.
