The night’s gone long at Kaer Morhen. They’ve all been up drinking and laughing in this odd new peace, this hope that none of them quite know what to do with. Ciri’s been in bed for ages, tired out as she is from her training, and now the others slowly head up too.

They haven’t been left alone, just the two of them, since before the battles. Since before Voleth Meir. Since, well.

Yen told him to talk to Geralt about this ages ago, but there had been a whole slew of easy excuses not to, including but not limited to several ends of the fucking world and the simple fact that Geralt seems not to want to in the least little bit.

Maybe it’s something in the air, maybe it’s Yen’s blessing, maybe it’s the question in Ciri’s eyes every day as to why Geralt insisted a non-magical bard stay in the keep for extremely magical battles, or maybe Jaskier’s just finally fucking drunk enough to try tonight, before Geralt makes an excuse to go to bed.

“You know, you never answered my question.”

Geralt stiffens, across the table and a few seats down. They’re not sitting across from each other. Geralt is always careful to leave space between them that wasn’t there before the mountain.

“Hmm?”

“I asked,” Jaskier says, quietly, “is this what pleases you. Finding Ciri. All of this apocalypse stuff we’ve had to muck through.” He swallows the last of his ale, his mouth feeling like parchment. “You told me you thought ignoring it would make it go away and you were wrong, that’s what you said. You didn’t tell me if this is what you want. Now I know you’re typically awful at answering questions properly so I don’t know if you even noticed, but—”

“I noticed.”

Jaskier’s ears heat. He stares into his empty mug.

“Oh?”

“Jaskier,” Geralt says, and fuck, Jaskier hates it, hates the way Geralt saying his name still makes heat curl in his belly, hates the tender, tired tone of it, like Geralt’s always exasperated with him even when he hasn’t fucking done anything. “I…”

I think it's mostly Sebastian who finds Ciel's soul so irresistible! This is my headcanon inspired by Will's words about how he doesn't get what's so special about Ciel's soul and how he'd never understand demons. This made me wonder about other demons' reactions, so I came up with my own theory.

In my opinion, demons are mostly divided into two camps. One group prefers rotten souls of the worst sinners; others feed on the light souls of people in desperate conditions. Some occasional demons might enjoy corrupting the latter into becoming the former. But Ciel doesn't fall into any of these categories.

Ciel is both dark and light. He's somewhere in the middle: no matter how many terrible actions he does, his soul is not rotting from it. On the contrary, it blooms and shines brighter. Neither camps of demons feels interested in it for this reason: Ciel is not dark enough for one group and he's not light enough for another group. I also think that Sebastian's claim on his soul is so strong that it started to affect it in an almost physical way. Ciel was shaped by Sebastian's influence a lot, and in my eyes, some aspects of his soul became more demonic than human. It repels the majority of other demons - they are really not interested in consuming someone who reminds them of their own kind.

Throughout the anime/manga, Sukuna has shown no second thought towards any other character, he clearly only sees Itadori as a hindrance and even Gojo was disregarded despite showing a power that could possibly rival his own, yet he seems to find Fushiguro Megumi someone worthy of his time and attention. He's made many remarks about this throughout the manga and anime to the point where he would even voice out his opinion or thoughts about Megumi's power.

Also, the most striking thing about this is when he actually ends up saving him later on. I just want to point out that we can clearly see the extent of that same narrative happen when he only takes Megumi's safety in account while he completely obliterates an entire area (sparring no one) in chapter 119

This is exactly what Sukuna's character entails. He isn't held down by a set of morals or obligations because he is a being above both humanity and curses. He is willing to do whatever it takes to satiate his hunger because to him, nothing else exsits or matters. And at this very moment, Megumi is part of that hunger.
