shoutout to the fake ari aster movie my brain came up with. it’s called The Stairs and i occasionally have nightmares about watching it in a movie theater. whenever i wake up i feel cold for hours and i pray that if it is in mr. aster’s brain it remains there and isn’t inflicted upon the public

the plot revolves around a family moving into a haunted house. instead of like, moving things in the house, the ghost makes each member of the family experience individualized terrifying hallucinations where their family members turn into something unrecognizable and try to kill them. the two adults in the house are too scared to tell each other abt their hallucinations, and they lead to them doing increasingly dangerous/bizzare things. anyways it sort of comes to a head when one of the kids fucking bites and eats chunks out of the other one until he dies, realizes what she’s done, and tries to glue/tape bits of him back together. a few days later the mom snaps and shoots her, then commits suicide. the dad is weak because he hasn’t eaten in days bc he can’t trust what he’s eating is actually food (and not a dead family member or w/e). he manages to escape to the field in front of the house, is overrun by bugs crawling on him, and tries frantically to swat/brush them off only to come to and realize he’s still in his house slashing himself to death with a knife. there’s other stuff but my brain mercifully lets me forget when i wake up. the movie is rated five stars because it’s really well done but absolutely no one who sees it likes it. i don’t know why it’s called The Stairs. there are stairs in the house but they aren’t, like, important.

Every time I’m lucky enough to have this hit my dash I listen to it, and every time I get chills all the way through.
