yikes amirite

hi everyone that isn’t listening

i am back. so news, college is super hard. who would have though. i only slightly drowned but now finals are over and i think i might actually be happy to go home?

i miss my sister a lot (don’t tell her that tho) and my brother is coming home from grad school so the whole family will be under one roof (scary i know)

it is almost christmas which means i get to see my Uela and Uelo. they live in colombia and i rarely get to see them (gonna cry a lot)

hi i’m mae and i’m here to say...

if y’all keep voting red we’re gonna die from global warming, under priveledged people groups (aka not straight, white, Christian, men) aren’t gonna have rights, we’re all going to get deported, and most importantly people are going to keep suffering.

so my school holds little culture appreciations in the student center every friday afternoon

today it was for korea so i was super excited

i got there and felt super self conscious because i’m not confident speaking korean with anyone outside my family

there are a lot of people (free stuff on college campus... i mean come on) and i am super overwhelmed

then this group of three korean people come over and start taking to me (wow sob amirite)

we end up talking about how i am korean and i tell them my korean name (which phonetically is mi-rae)

this makes a white boy stop to question my ethnicity/race

without going into detail that will do nothing but anger me, he essentially white washed me (even though i have darker skin from my hispanic mom and korean facial features from my dad) and remarked at how “weird” it was to see someone who “looks like me” to speak korean “like that”
