the whole "lipstick on a pig" thing makes no sense because the second we gave a pig access to makeup she became god's cuntiest soldier
“Do dishes” and “take out trash” both require the use of a spell slot, vs “use phone” is a cantrip, and brother, I am a level one wizard
oh goodness! oh dear!! oh no!!!
this scene from the goes wrong show where they cast two different people as the head and hunky, semi-nude body of the same character during a live theatre production haunts my every waking moment
Now THIS is physical comedy

While having imaginary political arguments in my head I made a realization about one of my favorite movies that seems so obvious now. The Truman Show is a metaphor for indoctrination.
In The Truman Show, Truman’s entire life is structured like a closed religious system: he’s born into it, surrounded by people who present the world to him as natural and unquestionable, and is kept compliant through fear, guilt, and manipulation. When he starts noticing contradictions, the community responds the way indoctrinating systems often do by tightening control, reframing doubt as danger, and offering comforting lies rather than truth.
A lot of MAGAts are Truman, but rather than pressing further and possibly finding out that their entire lives have been a lie, they'd rather play along. They're afraid that if they step outside of the studio they'll lose everything and everyone they've ever known, including themselves.
We touched on the religious metaphor a little in my HS creative writing class with how the director, whose name is Christof, acts like this omnipresent, authoritative, god-like figure in the film, but I didn't really know the concept of indoctrination at the time.
Anyway I'm sure a lot of people already knew this but I haven't watched or thought about it within the past couple of years.

I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream by Harlan Ellison
The King in Yellow by Robert W Chambers*

A shameless person is someone who does something shameful.
Does all the shame the person should have get put into the shameful action? Or is it like a glass half full half empty thing?
I think a shameless person possesses no shame but is a powerful source of shame. Their actions generate high quantities of it in their immediate environment but they are coated with a repellent coating so they are physically incapable of absorbing and processing the shame.
Instead, all that shame remains in the immediate vicinity to be absorbed and processed by the nearest non-shameless person who, lacking that protective coating, is susceptible to the second-hand shame.
BTW, just to make sure everyone knows, this isn't just some internet rando commenting on her observations on the internet.
They are an Assistant Professor of Media Industries at New York University and literally just finished writing The Apple II Age: How the Computer Became Personal, a book on the history of the computer industry in the 70s.
This tweet isn't just an observation, it's the result of years of research and study. And it's absolutely true.
'that blows' and 'that sucks' are both negative, which means moving air in any sort of way is inherently bad
This is basically how my thought are all the time.
